I only fly about 4 times a year so I'm not exactly a frequent flyer, and usually (unhappily) use Delta because I live in a rural area and don't have a lot of choice. Decided to drive to Raleigh and fly Southwest - I saved A LOT of money, even factoring in the 4 hour drive. Since the fare was so cheap I wasn't expecting much -- I was pleasantly surprised.
I had to change my flight plans after booking, and there was NO CHARGE. I also had 2 suitcases, again NO CHARGE. They were supposed to charge for drinks, and we had drinks on all the flights, but they never collected any thing. Also both legs of both flights (4 total) were ON TIME!
Since Southwest doesn't have assigned seating, everyone goes on rather fast so they can choose the best seating, which makes loading really fast - start to finish took about 10 minutes and we were off (on time). The flight attendants were friendlier than Delta, and seemed to try and make our flight enjoyable (which of course it never is, but as these things go, it wasn't bad).
I will most definitely drive 4 hours to take advantage of the extra savings and on time flights.
