South Beach Review Summary
The South beach diet provides quick weight loss results, by lowering your overall carb intake. Consumers agree that if you can make it through the rough first two weeks, the South Beach diet works and is worth the initial struggle. Some even say it is a good diet for diabetics. Like any quick weight loss diet, the problem with the South Beach diet is maintaining your weight loss and sticking to the program long term. Some carb cravers say it is too hard to maintain over the long time period.
an alergy sufferer, try to eat healthy, watching my weight
A friend told me she was trying a new diet and wanted a buddy to do it with her. I agreed to look into it since I don't believe in dieting but eating right and exerciesing. After reading the book and seeing the many health benefits, I decided it would be worth the effort since I have many health problems in my family line. It was difficult in the diet stage (2 wks) but I have been feeling wonderful and have lost 24 lbs in about 12 weeks. — — Since I already try to practice good eating habits, I found the information in the book to be a wonderful compliment to my routine. I…

try to eat healthy, A stress eater, A common-sense dieter, almost always wishing for a lower weight, A frequent snacker, cost-conscious, informed, a boredom eater
Many people confuse the South Beach diet with the Atkins diet. In the first 2 weeks all sugar and carbs are cut out but afterwards, certain "good carbs" can be added. So this diet is much healthier than Atkins. The first two weeks are hard but worth it! Once you get through the first two weeks, the rest is much easier. If you eat a donut, you dont have to scrap your entire diet, just continue. The South Beach diet book will start you on your way. I suggest reading the entire book so that you are informed and understand why the diet is working and how it is healthy. — South Beach is not…

A frequent snacker, A carb addict, not interested in cooking, a boredom eater
I lost alot of weight fast. For me, the hardest part after getting started, was not having carbs in phase one, but once I got past the 1st 4-5 days it gets easier--the cravings actually stopped! Once the bulk of my weight came off, then the losing slowed down--which was ok. This is not so much a diet, as a lifestyle change. I still limit my carbs & fill in the day with protein instead. Also, I am now in the habit of 3 healthy meals a day & 3 snacks, so I feel like I am eating all day long! …

A common-sense dieter, A realist
This is a great diet. I always just used to look at fat content and never would be successful. Now that I look at carbs and fat, I lost 20 lbs. in 2 months just by changing what I eat. You can still eat foods you love, just may want to try leaner meats and…

practical, try to eat healthy, A common-sense dieter, informed, A realist, health conscious, a health enthusiast
I have done weight loss counseling for 23 years. I love the South Beach Diet! It is easy to do, there is no problem finding the right foods when eating out and the weight loss is quick. The first two weeks are the most restrictive, but the quick weight loss is worth it. And because protein is so filling, I am never hungry when I'm going this diet. I do South Beach myself to maintain my weight and to take off a few pounds when I need to. The best part of the South Beach Diet for me is not having any problems when I'm going out to eat - which I do often. …

an alergy sufferer, watching my weight, seasonally sick, married, into trying new things, health conscious
I got this bood because I am pre diabetic. I do not want to keep taking all the meds the docter has foisted upon me, so figured if I could stick with this I would be able to get off all the meds, and lose the needed weight. — My Endocrinologist recommended this too me and I believe I can stick with the "Lifestyle Change" as it seems pretty easy. I will miss my sweets, but I will not miss my meds. — This book offers so much, explains everything clearly. Was written by a cardiologist. — I really recommend this but buy it off EBay. Very cheap. —…

try to eat healthy, informed, A common-sense dieter, not a pill taker
This is an excellent way to lose weight and keep it off. It does not have as many restrictions as Atkins therefore you are not depriving yourself. If you crave something sweet you have other healthier options that won't leave you wanting for something else sweet. It takes fat and sodium content into consideration. It is also very diabetic conscious which results in alot less damage to organs later on in…

try to eat healthy, a boredom eater, A carb addict, changing my lifestyle to lose weight
This diet was recommended for my husband by his doctor. It worked ok fro him, he lost weight. I did not. I am a major carb lover and I found this to restrictive. I also have a hard time eating all the veggies it recommends. This diet will probaly work well for someone who isn't a big pasta or bread eater. Also the ricotta dessert gets old fast. I also cannot eat eggs so breakfast was a lil…

a boredom eater, try to eat healthy, informed, not a pill taker
There are enough options and support foods that you can purchase in the store to satisfy cravings. Once you wean yourself off of sugar, life becomes much easier and the pounds drop off. Now I reach for fruit or healthy alternatives than calories I'll regret later. My extra 5 pounds is right around my waist, so this is an ideal diet for…

A frequent snacker, try to eat healthy, increasing my fiber, seeking balance, health conscious, budget conscious
Cinnamon Raisin is my favorite, with all the protein and fiber it also makes for a great snack and it's all under 150 calories! Great for on the go types or anyone looking for a tasty snack to hold them over until their next meal. Also, these bars are less expensive than a box of regular nutrition bars which can be over 1.50 per…

I bought the book and tried to stick to the diet everything that it said to do. Well I have never changed my eating habits so dramatically! It was SO hard! I made some modifications of my own to adapt the diet to my own lifestyle and its worked wonders. With exercise i lost a ton of weight I highly suggest…

watching my weight
I like this food plan because it allows you to eat healthfully. You eat lean proteins and good fats. You are allowed to have fruit and whole grain items. For many years I was an Atkins fanatic but this eating plan allows me to maintain some of that philosphy but also to have a wider rainge of more healthy food.…

Used this diet for years and it really does work. You will miss bread a little in the beginning but you really do get used to it after a couple of weeks. You have to watch the fat conent however. You don't want to clog up your arteries getting thin, then you will not be…
