My husband and I were doing the South Beach diet a while back, and I bought some of the premade frozen South Beach Living entrees to make things easy on myself. My husband who is spoiled by me cooking everything for him for lunch and dinner for the last 18 1/2 years did not like any of them, but this is not his opinion it is mine. In this particular case though I have to agree with him. I was not crazy about the South Beach Living Kung Pao Chicken myself. This was a bit surprising since I do like some of the other South Beach Living Entrees.
Obviosly this is a microwave meal. It comes in a little oval microwave safe dish with a film over it, inside of a box.
To preapre remove the microwave safe dish from the box, do not lift or split the film. Place it in the microwave for 3 minutes, remove, pull back the film and then stir the chicken, re-cover and continue cooking for 1 to 3 1/2 minutes depending on your microwave. You can also cook it in an oven on a cookie sheet for 30 minutes at 350 on the center rack. Do not remove or slit film.
The Kung Pao Chicken is a combination of White meat chicken strips, Red peppers, peanuts, broccoli water chestnuts, yellow peppers, and Kun Pao sauce. I like all of the ingredients in this but they somehow did not come together. I did not really taste any sauce, what i did taste was an over whelming red and yellow pepper taste. As an addition to somthing I like those flavors but I don't like them when the over whelm everything else. I like how the water chestnuts came out, and the chicken was OK, the broccoli was broccoli, the only saving grace were the few peanuts were thrown in there. They could at least compete with the peppers.

Dietary Exchange per serving: 1/2 carbohydrate, 1 vegetable, and 3 lean meat. This meal can be eaten in Phases, 1, 2, and 3 of the South Beach diet program.
The best I can say about this frozen meal is that it was tolerable, it is not something I would look forward to eating again. It also is very low in carbs for a meal and that is good, but honestly I think I could have made this myself and would have just taken me maybe 10 or 15 minutes longer, and I am sure it would have tasted much better.
I am sorry I just was not very fond of this flavor, but South Beach Living Does have some others that are wonderful
