South Beach diet has been my choice because of the ease of organizing your food and the 3 phases. This is not a diet for "now". It is a life long change "diet". The first 2 weeks is the most strict, with eating only lean meats and lots of veggies. You can have reduced fat peanut butter; reduced fat cheeses; lean cuts of meat; salads, with a limit on certain veggies (sugar content). Also, no fruit during this 2 week period. The idea is to jump start your system with healthy foods that don't weigh (lol- get it?!) you down. There is not to be any caffeine, either. Sugars and caffeine contribute to your blood sugar level. Your blood sugar level contributes to your weight lose! The first few days are the hardest, but if you can get thru those, you are on your weigh (haha, again!) to a better you...inside AND out. South Beach has been the easiest of diets for me. I have tried them all...Weight Watchers, Curves, Nutri-System, Atkins, and a few others. I use to weigh 221, I am a 50 year old female, 5' 6", and I should be weighing around 160. That is my goal...160, by my 51st birthday in September. I have been on the diet for 6 weeks and I have lost 18lbs. I eat 3 meals a day, with 3 snacks (that includes yummy desserts ladies!). I suggest getting the book to read and then go online to download the full list of what you can eat and not eat! This diet is a companion to people on medications for blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes. It claims to control those issues and possibly even get off medications. I personally have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. My numbers have been slowly coming down. I am excited to see if I can get off ALL my meds.
