This was actually the second one of these that we owned. The first Sony babyCall monitor lasted over 2 years and worked wonderfully. It finally started to go out and we didn't hesitate to purchase another. Well, this one had issues from the start. We did like that it is rechargeable. That was awesome, because we didn't spend nearly what we used to in batteries. But the quality wasn't there anymore. The rechargeable plug flap that keeps water/dirt out quickly fell off. Then the top plastic holder fell off, leaving EXPOSED wiring. I'm guessing it's just an antenna, but it looks ridiculous as well. The reception this thing has been terrible for a while now, and only has 2 different channels, not 27 like most of them. This one is ready for the garbage, and I've had it less than a year. Definitely not one you are going to get with a baby and have it until they are potty-trained and learning to get up in the middle of the night. I believe it was $34.99 or $39.99 and while that isn't as expensive as others, I'd rather have purchased one really nice one than 2 cheap ones.
