Because of work, I had to choose a PC, and having used a Mac until now, I didn't think I would be able to manage on a PC. But I was pleasantly surprised with the way the Sony Vaio performed for me - it has lived up to my expectations. It handles not only all of my graphic programs open, at the same time as well as my virtual Windows XP machine running simultaneously alongside my Windows 7. I like how it has a side number keyboard on the side as well, and I'm really enjoying all the features the computer has to offer- with the trackpad and the customizable features that seemed to been advanced/upgraded since my last computer (Windows XP). I am thoroughly enjoying the user friendly features, and I am enjoying the nice screen size, which is 15.5". It's similar weight to its competition, as I was looking at Toshiba, but the salesperson recommended Sony Vaio over Toshiba and I'm so glad that i got the Vaio now. No regrets and it's lived up to my expectations. The only thing is that the machine does tend to get a big hot on the bottom.

I owned this laptop for 8 months before I got a new one and it was good while it lasted. It had a snappy processor, good amount of ram, screen size was perfect for me, and a great resolution. But, the battery life was too short for my liking and I also had a problem with the battery connector and it would only charge at a specific angle, which was when I decided to upgrade to a new laptop because I did not want to hassle with repairs. Most of the time, sony's quality is higher than other brands, which is why they are sold at higher prices, but in this case, quality was an issue. I own two sony Vaios and this one does get a little warm. The bottom of my other Vaio is always cool and the fan is virtually silent. This thing's fan is too loud and it does not really help with the heating issue. I hear there is a BIOS updtae that fixes this issue but i dont think it has to do with the BIOS but the actual build itself.

Great little Vaio laptop!

By

from Southlake, TX

Comments about Sony Vaio VPC Notebook PC:

I've had my Vaio for about a year and have had no problems whatsoever. It's got a keyboard that goes all the way to the edges, which I really like. At first it seemed kind of weird, but you get used to it pretty quickly. The keyboard has a nice touch and is very comfortable. You can turn off the "finger screen" when it's not in use, which is a feature that I use a lot - I have a wireless mouse that I use instead. It performs fairly well and has a nice, large, very readable screen. It's not as compact as some laptops, but for its size, it's not that heavy. I like the fact that it comes in various colors which lets you "customize" yours and not look like all the other black laptops out there. Mine is a nice, cheerful lime green, but you can also get it in black if you don't go for colorful electronics. One of the drawbacks is that it doesn't have a very long battery life which kind of surprised me the first time that I used it without its AC plug. Overall, I like it.

this laptop is great in the beginning but it is kind of slow. this was one of my first computers and im not too impressed with it compared to the modern day computer. but it all depends on what make you get as every laptop is different. but i would try it in store to see if you like it before you get it. it was pretty slow, but it's because i'm a gamer.

Decent Performance from Sony Vaio VPC

By

from Seattle, WA

Comments about Sony Vaio VPC Notebook PC:

When purchasing a Sony, I primarily think of the aesthetics over the performance. Aesthetically, I know I am getting a beautiful, eye-candy product. Performance-wise, I know I am getting near to the top degree in performance. That is what makes this Sony Vaio VPC such a worthy purchase I have made. Running Windows 7, this Sony is very fast! The screen size is large, so it is excellent to watch movies on through plane trips, road trips, etc. Also, it is reliable. It is quite durable, and I would know, since I have dropped it a couple of times. No dents or scratches on the hardwood or on the laptop! The only problem I find with this purchase is that the battery life is a little low. I have tried to purchase a new, extended battery for this laptop but they are, like with all Sony products, quite expensive. Also, after an extended time, the laptop can get quite hot. I would still recommend this product, but it can be quite pricey!

Nice

Comments about Sony Vaio VPC Notebook PC:

Everything seems OK except the very bad quality of video talk quality, refresh rate and the broken voice when using Skype. I tried both wireless and wired connection and found no improvement. All other notebooks/netbook/desktops I have do not have such issue. Since video talk is a major intended usage for this unit, I have to return this Sony for a different brand that we already have a low-end model but it works perfectly

Awesome Laptop

By

from Santa Ana, CA

Comments about Sony Vaio VPC Notebook PC:

I have had this laptop for about a year now.  It has been everything I hoped for and even more.  I love how this laptop has a lot of power to run almost any program.  I even use photoshop on this laptop sometimes and it works just fine with absolutely no lag.  This computer looks very sleek and clean.  The battery life seems to be around 4 hours for me but that seems enough for the kind of power you get out of this.  I use it daily for school and work.  I get many compliments on this laptop about its looks and the bright screen that it has.  I watch movies constantly on this screen and it is very clear and bright.  The Sony Vaio brand might cost a little more than some other brands but the quality is there.  I have no regrets getting this laptop and plan on buying another sony vaio laptop if this one ever fails in the years ahead.  This laptop has everything i want and I would recommend this laptop to anyone looking for a high quality laptop.

sturdy, stable, and fast

By

from Buford, GA

Comments about Sony Vaio VPC Notebook PC:

This is a great laptop. The hard drive has a built-in cushion sensor so if you accidentally bump your laptop a bit too hard, it displays on the desktop that your hard drive is safe. I’ve done this on a number of occasions and was always relieved to see it. Anyway, the battery life is a bit on the short side but that’s about the only minus I can find about this. The laptop is fast, sturdy, stable, and the screen size is fairly big. The other day I was running 10 – 20 programs on it at the same time, and there was hardly a slowdown on the computer. The built-in wi-fi adapter is very good as well. It detects a wireless connection and  the connection level is much, much stronger than my other laptop, even when it is a couple stories above or below the router. Overall, I am very happy with this laptop and would recommend it without reservation to anyone who can afford the slightly more expensive price, and who is looking for a solid and stable system.

Best laptop I've ever used

By

from Provo, UT

Comments about Sony Vaio VPC Notebook PC:

Now, I guess this might somewhat detract from my review, but I don't know that much about computers, I just now how easy some are for me to use and how well they perform and how long it usually takes me to ruin a computer- need to have the hard drive wiped and windows restored. I am not very tech savvy, but I like to occasionally play online games and mostly email and surf the internet. However, it is usually about a year or so before something on my previous laptops stop working. However this laptop has lasted me a long time. I think over two years now and I haven't had anything go wrong with it. I also like the sleek look of this computer, my husband takes it occasionally and it suits him perfectly for business interviews and work. It is a hefty computer- not that I'd recommend someone try and drop it, but our little girl occasionally gets to the computer and likes to play on the keys. I would recommend this computer to someone who is really looking for a good quality computer!

This computer is great but it has poor sound quality

By

from Keene, NH

Comments about Sony Vaio VPC Notebook PC:

I absolutely love this computer. I received it as a graduation present and it has many great features such as playing blu-ray movies! The only complaint I would have is that the speakers are not too loud which is a problem for me because I lvoe playing music very loudly. Other than that it is a great computer for a good price.

This is a very useful and handy device!

By

from Philadelphia, PA

Comments about Sony Vaio VPC Notebook PC:

In my opinion the sony Vaio Notebook is a very useful peice of technology. For instance, everyone in my household can benefit from using it no matter their age. It comes in handy when doing homework assignments and also when I have office work that I have to do from home. Not only is it great for personal use but it is also good for entertainment use too. For example, the children can look up and watch their favorite episodes of any show that they would like. I can also watch some of my favorite DVD'S on it too! It seems as if this computer is so advanced that it knows exactly what you are thinking of doing with it. In conclusion, this computer works wonders and I would recommend it to any and everyone looking to purchase a computer.
