Sony VAIO VGN-SZ450N/C PC Notebook Review Summary

Sony, long known for its consumer electronics, also makes a popular line of notebook computers know as the VAIO. The VAIO VGN-SZ450N/C notebook is designed for the performance minded user looking for smaller than normal sized notebook. Our community of discerning portable computer users has mixed emotions about their VAIO VGN-SZ450N/C’s. While some reviews like the durability and ease of use of the VAIO VGN-SZ450N/C, others decry the lack of customer service and large battery size that seems to have a less than ideal life. Sony outfits the VAIO VGN-SZ450N/C notebook with a 13.3" TFT active matrix display, powerful Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 processor at 2.0GHz, up to 2GB DDR2 RAM, wireless LAN, DVD/RW drive, and a 160GB hard drive. The (approximately) $1800.00 sleekly designed grey and black notebook also ships with Windows Vista Business Edition. Read what our reviews have to say about the Sony VAIO VGN-SZ450N/C as well as the Dell Inspiron 1520 and Lenovo ThinkPad 3000 series notebook computers.

After having to practically replace every part on my *ell notebook (some twice!) and hold for weekly tech calls to India, I finally had enough and drove to the store to set myself free. My girlfriend loved her Sony, and I was set on either a Sony or an HP. — I came home that day with the… read full review »

I have had Sony Vaios for over five years and this was natural choice when I was in the market for a laptop.  While my desktop works great, the Sony laptop is very unreliable.  It is very light and easy to use.  However, the battery did fail numerous times and I wound up having to… read full review »

I bought my Vaio for two reasons, one to have when I traveled and because it was on sale. Mine is the model PCG-K45 with a 15.1" screen, 80 gig hard drive and 512 megs of memory. I upgraded my memory to 1 gig about 6 months ago. The processor is a pentium 4 at 3.2 ghz and runs Windows Xp Home Edition. — — My Experience — — The thing I like most about my little laptop is not only can I take it with me, but the built in WiFi works great. I have never had any trouble connecting on the road and I always have a fast connection where ever I go. I have… read full review »

We made this laptop purchase quickly after our previous computer was stolen.  We should have taken more time to explore our options and compare products.  All in all this is a good product and I would recommend it to a friend.  It provides good quality graphics and has been dependable.  However, it does not meet our needs in terms of portability.  With a large battery and massive screen (that might be a bonus to some people), it does not fit in our average sized computer case and is cumbersome to carry.  I find myself using it most often at our computer desk… read full review »

this computer is large. many of them are 17-19 inches. their internal batteries are very limited due to the large screens which take up lots of elecricity and the fast processors. they are intended for desktop replacement use only, as they get very hot and you can get laptop burn from them. if you are into graphics, this is the computer for you though, as its large screen can play any movie in high clarity and is very easy on the eyes. the fact that it is a sony product means that it will have a high fit and finish, as well as be the best possible high preformance pc on the market at the… read full review »

I purchased a Sony Vaio and have had a bad go of it.  This laptop is not for anyone that isn't an expert.  I am just learning about computers and I think the salesman should have directed me to a more user friendly laptop.  I have had to learn much more than I wanted to in order to function on this machine.  Have you ever gotten a new toy and just wanted to play with it all the time?  That's what I wanted to do when I got my new Vaio, the difference is, I can't understand how much of it works!  Go figure! —… read full review »

I purchased the Sony Vaio VGN-SZ480N when my previous computer failed. I shopped for about 6 months before making the decision of what computer to purchase and settled on this one. The size is great for travel. The screen is large enough to use and not feel cramped but still fits in the spaces I need it to. The bag required to carry the computer is small enough to still be a carry-on and hold the other stuff I want with me. — — The hardware is good. Brand names on most everything, but not the best quality. The case is well-built, but there are spaces at the joints that are a… read full review »

The Sony VAIO VGN-SZ450N/C PC Notebook is a great computer for anyone who loves sony. I have a sony digital camera which was amazingly easy to use, thanks to this laptop. You do not need a converter for your memory card, because it is compatable with your laptop. Sony memory stick, sony camera, sony laptop. They all go together! — — The color and design is great as well. For a college student or recent grad (like myself!) It is light weight, and so easy to use. Sony has great software that comes with the laptops as well. The only problem is, if you tend to get a lot of viruses'… read full review »

My husband bought me this laptop 3 months ago as an anniversary gift. I am starting law school and he felt I needed a quality laptop. I absolutely love it. — I am, by no means, a computer/technology person. My computer usage is mostly surfing the internet, chatting on AOL and word processing. Please keep this in mind when reading my review since I will not become very technical in it. — I am very hard on my stuff. This is the 4th laptop I've had in 8 or 9 years, but it is by far the best. The quality of the machine is obvious. It's very lightweight, but has a "beefy" feel to it. I… read full review »

I purchased a Vaio laptop in February, right before Windows XP products were phased out.  In fact Best Buy no longer had any in stock except those loaded with Vista - which I wanted to avoid.  Found a Viao on clearance at Staples and have been lovin' it ever since!  it's sleek and slick, didn't cost an arm and a leg (but it wasn't the cheapest, either) and meets my needs.  I use it mostly for photo editting and digital scrapbooking in Photoshop Elements.  No problems at all.  The image quality is great - which Sony is known for.  It is a bit heavy, but I… read full review »

We found this item on sale and it has worked like a charm.  My only complaint is the creaky sound that is made when your right hand rests on the keyboard in certain positions.  Otherwise it came with an appropriate amount of software, and is very easy to use. We are huge fans of sony products.  — sony sony sony sony sony sony sony sony sony sony sony sony sony sony sony sony sony — a — a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a  a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a… read full review »

I really like my Sony Vaio notebook overall. It does a couple of really annoying things that I can't seem to fix though. Although it is all set up to shut off the display, and then go to sleep after a certain amount of time, it never does...The screensaver just goes and goes and goes. Also, although it is set to go to sleep when the lid is shut, it never does. I shut the lid and the screen stays on. I have looked around online at forums and such for a fix, but haven't come up with much. And from looking around for a fix, it appears that Sony Vaios often have issues with going to sleep… read full review »

This review actually relates to the Sony Vaio Desktop PCV-RS620G PC. It brags that you can do this and do that with it. The PC costs almost $1500.00 THEN IF you want to use the "extras" you have to pay for the software. In my opinion if it boasts it can do it, then it should come with it...not just free trials!! As soon as you update the VAIO part of it things quit working. Then if by chance you need to replace any parts, you can't just walk into the same electronic store you purchased the POS from to buy the parts. You have to contact SONY and wait and wait and wait. For the advanced… read full review »

With respect to the Sony Vaio VGN TXN15P, I couldn't be happier. It only has the Intel Core Solo processor, but that's part of the reason why it has such great battery life. Particularly if you avoid heavy CD/DVD usage, you can easily go 5 hours on the battery charge, as long as you're not at max brightness. The built-in Sprint wireless connection works great, so I no longer pay for internet access at hotels. It comes with only the basics of office applications, but I used Open Office (openoffice.org) for free, and it works great. Everyone on planes is always envying me, and it's less… read full review »

Lay your eyes on the elegant black VAIO notebook-an ultra-portable powerhouse at 2.7 lbs with 4 to 7.5 hours of standard battery life and durable carbon-fiber casing. And with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, Bluetooth® technology and 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless LAN technology, you'll be able to stay connected and productive when on the go. An 11.1” display with XBRITE-HiColor LCD technology delivers stunning clarity and true-to-life color, which is great for viewing movies on long flights. You can also create and record up to 8.5GB of data with the DVD+R Double Layer/DVD RW… read full review »
