My Very First

5

The Sony VAIO VGN 510 Notebook PC was my very first Laptop.I never wanted a bulky big Laptop so the employees at my local electronic store suggested a Notebook.I was very new to the concept but decided to see what it was all about.Just a mini version of the real thing.I started using it and it was not difficult at all.I have used this for almost 5 years not and have not touched any other Laptops. The Battery Life lasts for 4 hours, then I have to plug it in, it used to last longer but I'm glad after so long that it still lasts. This computer is very portable and easy for travel uses.Durability is also very good, by accident I once banged it against a door and no cracks or anything. If you're on the market for a new Notebook Computer get the Sony VAIO VGN 510 Notebook PC the very best for beginners transitioning for Desktop to a Laptop.

Vaio Laptop - Reliable

5

I've owned my Sony Vaio VGN-FW510F for over a year now and I have been very happy with it. No problems whatsoever. I came preloaded with Windows 7, but not much else. The camera works well and the screen is beautiful. It is heavy, but I use it as a desktop for the most part. I would not have picked this particular model if I had to transport it all the time. The battery life is reasonable, but because I have it plugged-in most of the time, I don't really pay much attention to it. It seems to be around 2 hours with constant use. I can't review the track-pad because I use a Microsoft cordless mouse. I've owned HP laptops before, and so far the Sony has been better. The HP overheated very easily after a little while.

Great Laptop for Everyday Use

4

I am using my Sony VAIO PC right now! It has a great resolution and screen size-- a couple of the most crucial components for a computer in my opinion. I love the aesthetics that come along with this laptop; sleek lines and monochromatic color tones make for a great PC. It is pretty pricey, but the performance that it includes is fantastic. I love that it comes pre-loaded with the most up to date version on Microsoft Windows. It also has a great sound system. The keyboard is sleek while functional, and handles well with the hand's natural movement. The finger touch-pad is responsive and I have had no complaints with it. (keep in mind that I have had my VAIO for over a year) It has a good amount of space for memory, and it is easy to insert your desired CD or DVD into the extending arm. It has an average amount of battery life, but charges quickly. The only major con that I can find with this machine is that it is really pretty heavy. It certainly takes effort to pick up and carry. I would not enjoy toting this around all day, but for home it is a great investment!

Can't live without it

Dear Sony VAIO VGN laptop, You're currently residing on my lap, as I write this review -- a process we've gone through many, many times since I received you two Decembers ago. You've supported my way through countless essays -- college admissions, college classes, scholarship applications, mindless writings -- in these past 14 months. I cannot imagine how I would have survived those moments without you. Seriously. Before you, I had owned and used many, many, too many to count laptops. One had a loose screen, and resulted in me having to sit in an awkward position in order to prop it up. Sure it had a nice keypad, but as you soon came to show me, this new, more spacious keypad you came with was beyond my radar of "nice."  And oh my god. Aren't you the most best-looking computer ever? The sleek design, the reflecting VAIO words on the outside, the big yet think screen. And you don't complain. You're quiet, helpful, reliable and I'm not looking forward to the day you'll inevitable need to be replaced. Please stay with me for much, much longer. Sincerely, Me.

Got the sony vaio vgn-cr510e laptop about an year ago.  The external appearance is awesome with a blue shade and the VAIO letters engraved in a techie way.  The weight of the laptop is somewhat high than expected. The keyboard is like that of apple.. seperate keys with minute error for mistyping...  the motion eye sensor in the webcam (1,3 mp) is awesome. It did not produce much heat in the early days but later on its producing a lot of heat , sometimes the heat produced by the processor is really enough to cause a serious burn, but before it reaches the extreme point , the pc turns off... it happened to me many a times.... external heating station is a must.  the battery life is not good, needs to be charged for every 3 hours even in battery saving mode, the screen display is awesome. sound quality is much better than in dell, but the quantity is considerably low. earphones are a must for some low sound videos.  the buttons at the top for sound and video control are average as they sometimes get stuck during the early minutes of the operation. overall rating : 3/5

One of the best lap tops

I am very happy with my Sony VAIO VGN-CR510E.  My last lap top was also a SONY VAIO.  I have not had any problems with them and have always been able to troubleshoot problems through the online knowledgebase.
