Very cleverly designed

5

It sold about 102 million units. i think that can speak for itself. I like how it uses discs ( you can also burn the discs on your computer for free games), the importance of being on discs it can have much larger games, but you have to have it save it on something else such as a memory card. Its also nice to have a button to press to open the disc spot, so you don't have to have power to open it up. I like the fact that its a smaller system, but that makes me feel like I'm getting less. Graphics Quality I thought the graphics were quite nice, and that you can really tell this when you play games like medal of honor on here. Game Variety some of their better games are madden nfl 2000, medal of honor, and final fantasy 8, and this really shows that sony put a lot of effort into this console. Controller Comfort Well designed controller with well placed buttons. It was the first one of its time to have a controller like this, and the buttons were amazingly designed with your fingers not slipping off the buttons. Ease of Use Very simple and easy to use. Theres not much else I can say about this. Durability I can't really say how durable it is but I've taken care of mine (like a baby), and it still works.

I remember when i recieved this when i was younger. it was my first gaming system and i instantly fell in love. The graphics werent great but it didnt matter back then. it was all about the great games that were developed for the system. this is definitely one of my favorite systems and would continue to play it if i still had one.

The start of something beautiful

I'll be honest, the Playstation I owned only got used for four kinds of games, Final Fantasies, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid and Grand Theft Auto. As such I never ventured into many other of the gaming experiences that the Playstation had to offer. But as such I can inform you of the many times I found myself wowed with the ability of the little machine to play such stunning graphics in cinematic scenes. In fact I recall my father asking me what movie I was watching once while watching a cinematic scene. That is how good they could be! With that being said you can imagine that it made the Nintendo 64's graphics look horrible at the time. Playstation had birthed many great games, but it is my opinion that Gran Turismo is one of the most important , being one of the first and best driving simulator games (at the time) certainly had helped. The series which now has 5 games to it, drew my love through graphics and the idea that by playing it I was actually practicing for the real road. An idea I now know is ludacris but an idea that could capture a young boy's heart none the less. Complaints I have with the Playstation is that it does get fussy at times. When it does, then it doesn't read games and or will freeze during game play. Luckily this has never severely hurt my gaming experience.

Hi, I remember receiving this console from my cuisine when I was young and I was just fascinated about it. It had so many games and options I did not recognize. But the really amazing thing is that now, ages later, it still works!! This is an awesome console because of many things. One of them is the fact it has like a million games available for it. And many great ones. Also it is very compact and simple. I always thought that every good thing should be kept simple. And it is. You can even take it with you to your friends' house or anywhere else in a backpack because it is really small and light weight. But there are some bad things too... You see, it is not the same as it was 10 years ago. Technology is keeping on advancing and stuff are getting better. Many new games are out now but they can't be played on the PS1. But anyway, it is one of the best consoles ever and I do not care if there are new games, I love it :).

I loves the sony playstation. its an awsome device! My daughter got this for Chistmas. It is great. It is nice that dad can watch his sports and not complain about the TV all the time. You can also hook this up to your VCR in the car..with an additional adaptor. Trust me this is one devicee you will love! i mean its just great! the graphix are awsome, the games are even better, and its small and slim. i still own one, but truth be told this system is prone to breaking down. ive been thru over 3 psone's, they usually break down around three or four years after having them. one of my favorite games were soul blade. its a game about swords, you kill people with swords, its really fun. i also like the game mortal kombat. Scorpion is my favorite character. his best move is "GET OVER HERE". its awsome, also grandtheft auto came out on this system. it wasnt great since 3d grapix werent all that great. but this system was great

This is the best system to come out since the Nintendo Entertainment System. I have owned (in order of technology) an Atari 2600, NES, Sega Genesis, Gameboy, Playstation, Sega Game Gear, Game Boy Advance, Xbox, Playstation 2, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, and a Playstation 3. Looking back, I think this system is the best overall package for today. It can be easily made semi-portable (for in a car), it is cheap and dependable. The game selection is great, and it plays CDs with visualization on your TV. So, you can use it on long car trips with it plugged into your cigarette lighter (your phone probably has the best-suited games for waiting rooms and public transportation). Anywhere you are, the TV has a DVD player plugged in, but playing music on it often leaved a boring folder list on the screen. None of these games requires an internet connection for multiplayer. Any games older than the playstation can be emulated on a computer from the last five years. The best thing is how cheap these games are, google product search any of the top rated games, I promise you'll be happy at how cheap they are now.

The best console system of its time

5

The Play Station One was the first system that I ever used that made games that were more involved, more interactive, and more interesting. For example, the incredible game Final Fantasy VII is still recognized as one of the best games of all time because of its impressive system, story-telling, engaging characters, emotional development, and various other elements that capture a person's imagination and bring them into a new world. I still have my PS1 from when I first got it back around 1995 or 96 (seems like forever) and I also have around two dozen games for it including Gran Turismo, FF8, FF9, Gex, Crash Bandicoot, Mission: Impossible, Courier Crisis, and many others. It is dissappointing that the new models of the PS3 do not have backwards compatibility, because even today, these games can still be very entertaining. I still find these games more entertaining than most games you might find on the Wii or XBox.

A good system, but not the best.

The original playstation is an oldie but a goodie.  It is fun to play, and good to have for younger children that may be a little more rough with the system.  I would say its a good system for the beginner game or younger kids, but definitely not for the experienced gamer.  After having so many new and improved systems (both PlayStation and not) this really isn't worth spending money on.  I've had my playstation for quite a few years now, and I'm sad to say its not working to the best it was anymore.  The games skip and don't play smoothly, sometimes the sound cuts in and out or won't work at all.  I also have problems getting the system to read the games at all, so it won't start up.  When I actually do get the system running and working well it is still really fun, but graphics don't compare to what newer and better games and systems now have to offer.  I would say get this if you are looking for something older and for new gamers/the younger crowd.

Turning Point for video games

I like playing playstation with my sibs. My personal favorite is Crash Team Racing. That game really is such a riot it's not even funny!!! We use to invite people over just to play that game because it's so much fun. But yeah there's so many games that you can play with playstation and they are a lot of fun. I think it was this game console that started really picking it up on the graphics of games and since then it's just been improving and is awesome!!!!!The system itself is really nice looking and the controls are great too. They are so easy to grip and fit perfectly into your hand. I'm not sure if they started making them in different colors but I like that gray color they're working with and by the way, I remember always playing my CDs on playstation because me and my sister didn't have a boom box (CD Player) in our room so we needed some music somehow and we tried it one day and it actually worked!!! So yeah I love the playstation and wouldn't hesitate to play it now cause we still have it, but it's not as popular as the Wii.

The **Sony Playstation** has become one of the most popular game systems of all time and it's easy to see why. The original Playstation, believe it or not, was suppose to be the *32-bit Super Nintendo CD* add on, then Nintendo didn't want it anymore after the falling sales of the rival *Sega CD* and left their partner Sony holding the bag. Of course they didn't like that too much and Sony just released the Playstation by themselves in 1994 over in Japan; marketing it as a powerful 3D system. As the Playstation grew so did the support. Big companies like Capcom, Konami, and of course Namco were already on board and they only released their best games like the stunning one on one brawler *Tekken*. Sony released the Playstation here on September 9, 1995 and with big titles like **Mortal Kombat 3, Toshinden**, and **Ridge Racer** at launch the new system was off to a very good start. Sony was fairly strict about its games too because they learned from their past mistakes (anybody remember those crappy games from Sony Imagesoft?). Sony would not approve a game of poor quality or a game that lacked Polygon hardware support (like most 2D games) so the Playstation wouldn't have the same problems that the 3DO and Atari Jaguar did (remember Air Cars and Plumbers Don't wear Ties? Of course you don't!). After Square released the highly anticipated **Final Fantasy 7** in September 1997 there was no stopping the Playstation, not even Nintendo could hold them off. The Playstation was here to stay. If you want to spend your money on actually games and not power (like its sequel; the PS2) then the original PSone is still a good investment but I don't know anybody who really wants that especially since the PS2 can play most PSone titles already. There are still some really excellent games still in the discount bins like **Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid, Tekken 3, The Raiden Project**, and tons more though so there is no shortage of amazing titles. But on the same note beware of all the questionable games out there too like *Cyberia, Descent, Hexen, Twisted Metal 3*, and *Final Fantasy 8* (I'm not a big fan of #8 by the way). The PSone is a great system with a lot of award winning games available but it is pretty much dead now as well. Despite all the great games for this system you're better off going for the more powerful PS2 because that's the complete package (it plays DVD's, CD's, PSone games, and most importantly the all new PS2 games all in one). If you can get it cheap though around 30 bucks then go for it and see why the PSone was one of the greatest game machines of all time. **Sony Playstation overall rating: 77/100**-StarSoldier1 2007(Ryan Genno)
