I got the PS3 for my birthday a couple of years ago. I am 36 years old, and have always liked gaming to a degree, but I just don't have the time or energy to put toward playing anything more than a couple of times a week at the most. The games you can get for this system are great. The added bonus is what I wanted to brag on. Though we don't use it for games as much, this system has become our "go to" entertainment system for me and my wife. The fact that you can stream Netflix and youtube through this machine is a game changer. I would say that we use the PS3 more for movies on Netflix than for games by a long shot. The picture quality is great and it is easy enough for my wife to handle putting a movie on while I'm out!

The ps3 can do so much. you have wifi, the graphics are awesome. the games are so cool. you can upload pictures music surf the net. you can get the move & really get moving with it. it holds alot of games being saved. you can get a free sony account & when you are connected to the internet you can sign into your sony playstation account & you can sync your trophes up & if your games get deleted you can always resync to get your trophes back. unlike the xbox 360 you don't have to pay to get updates or to get online. you can watch blu ray, dvds. you can take pictures with your cam to save to the ps3 you can rip music to be saved some games will let you put the music in the games. you can stream movies.

I used to say that one of the biggest mistakes I made was letting our son have a gaming console when he had a gift card for Christmas a long time ago. I had previously forbidden stuff like that in the house as I felt it hindered school work and family interaction. So, the last year of school, our son had the decency to ask permission to get a Playstation 2 console with a gift card he was given for Christmas. After weighing it out, we said yes. From that point on, I was worried- seemed like all he did was play on that stupid thing. Pestering constantly- I just could not believe it when he later bought a Playstation 3 TOO??? Now I was sure he was addicted; Imaginging all kinds of horror stories, I hounded the guy and got all stressed out because he no longer went for walks, read books, or had as much interaction as I thought he should with the rest of the family. Time went on and he added a keyboard, high end earphones, a camera, and who knows what else to this monstrosity. The living end came when he began to watch Netflix streaming videos on the Playstation 3. Now he was obsessed- I just HAD to do something. After all, WE didn't get to see streaming Netflix so I began to gripe about his being able to see things any time and we had to wait for DVDs. **Basic Features** It was Christmas time. Things had been very very difficult for the family as everyone was out of work and life became quite stressful and hard. There were presents under the tree that we had worked hard to try to get through the previous year, and we felt thankful. Our kids had given us some amazing beautiful little things they saved up for too and we were so thankful for it all. Then came the piece de resistance- our son brought out a large box for us to open. We thought he made a mistake. All said and done, we opened up 5 nested boxes to discover our very own Playstation 3 console- the thin 120 GB set with some Blu-ray movies. Overwhelmed, we felt odd having such a big gift, but he assured us he had purchased it on a great deal with free movies long before he lost his job. Here are some of the things that come with the Playstation 3 120 GB console * 2-USB ports * Built in Web Browser * Ethernet Jack * HDMI output * S-Video jacks * Composite cable inputs/outputs * AV cable comes with it (not HDMI) Same processor, video graphics as previous Playstation 3, it does run cooler than the previous model Playstation 3. With the Playstation 3 Slim Console 120 GB we can watch Netflix videos via Wi-Fi from our wireless router/modem across the house. We can also use the Playstation network for free. Although you can type on this, it is easier to get a bluetooth or wired keyboard to use with the Playstation 3 slim console. **Other comments about the Playstation 3** The Playstation 3 Slim Console has worked really well. Sometimes the wireless router does not always keep a stable signal for the console, but for the most part it works well. Hard wiring it with cable to the Router makes it work much more smoothly, but wireless is still decent. The only problems I have encountered has been when downloading games from the Playstation Network sometimes the software does not download flawlessly and has to be eliminated and re-downloaded again. Then it usually works just fine. Errors correct easily, and the menu is easy to access and work with. Although this huge hard drive allows for lots of storage of video and music, I use it primarily for games and demos. I have not gotten into the graphic files and music too much yet. Since Blu-Ray players were going for a similar price as the Playstation 3 Slim for a long time, it made the most sense to get this unit. And with the inexpensive online games that you can download from the Playstation Network, well, there is a lot to do with this system. The only thing I do not like about it is that I can not use Playstation 2 games with this system like our son can, but if I REALLY want to play - maybe I can bribe him... **The Bottom Line** Although I used to be an avid PC gameplayer and beta tester for game companies some years ago, I had lost the desire to play games anymore. Until now- it is rather amusing to see our son staring at me with his mouth open while I furiously play one game after another saying, :" Wow. I just wanted to get you a Blu-Ray player and Netflix streaming. I never thought my mom would become a gaming freak!" Now it is his turn to pester and worry, right? *evil laugh* The irony of it all... Graphics Quality Gameplay is smooth and video is excellent. Some of the games are so high quality that it is a visual treat. We use HDMI and it is wonderful. Sound is great and the Blu-Ray player has also been great. Game Variety Very wide variety of games from Mature and Teen Level all of the way up to Family and Everyone friendly games. Controller Comfort Controller is quite comfortable and easy to use, although from time to time using the L1 and R1 buttons in pinball can lead to sore hands. I have worked with four controllers and each of them could use a better spring on the L 1 and R1 buttons so that they have better ability to stand away from the controller and not go into the housing, which often causes sore fingers. Ease of Use The Playstation 3 Slim 120 GB Console is much smaller than the older original unit that came with a hard drive about half the size that our son has. There is a Dual Shock controller with it, as well as automatic Wi-Fi built in. Use is very easy. Set up and re-setting is very easy. Durability More durable than the original PS3, but you can no longer play PS2 games on it.

I am a big fan of PlayStation 3 Slim. In comparison to Xbox 360 i think Playstation 3 is far more better. There are games only for xbox and playstation 3, even when we compare the games that we play the graphics is just awesome in playstation 3. Now since the playstation has introduced this playstation 3 slim, it is portable and faster. Since it has 120 gb space we can store lots of games. Online experience is awesome too. It is a bluetooth compatible too so the wireless remote controller even makes the life much more easier. If you are bored playing games you can even surf the internet from you playstation 3 console. Since it is HDMI comatible the graphics is just awesome. The best part is it even plays the blue-ray so we don't need another blue-ray player. It's not even that expensive the only bad part is when we have to buy games. Game Cd's are very expensive so we need to wait for the price to drop down. :(

Let's just get this out from the beginning.....we are a gaming family.  We have owned video game units since the beginning of time, starting with Colecovision, Atari, and the original Ninendo.  We have handheld units as well and have even bought a video unit just so we could play a single game, so it's hard to get excited about a video game unit.  However, the PS3 is different.  Aside from the obvious (great games to play), you can even play some of your older Playstation games on it - not all, but quite a few.   Additional features we use are the access to the internet and the blu-ray player.  The unit connected to our home network in minutes and allows us to access the internet without issue for playing movies or rentals from AmazonOnDemand.  The Playstation network allows you to download games instantly from the Playstation Store which is plus rather than ordering a game and waiting on it to be delivered.  The Playstation Network also remembers signed in members for multi player games like Little Big Planet,. The unit is small and supports wireless accessibly as well.  We have the wireless controllers and a wireless keyboard that makes playing so much easier.  The unit also supports the use of headphones and bluetooth.
