The Sony Baby Call was recommended by a friend and I am so thankful she did! It is awesome. It had 2 different choices, regular-which all monitors have and you can hear the constant static, or VOICE which is heavenly! The monitor is silent until the baby moves or makes a noise. We have two of these monitors and they both work great. One is in my 5-month old's room and one is in my 2-5-year old's room. We have one child set to all green and one child set to all yellow. That way, I can switch between the two rooms with my parent unit. I rarely move them around, but like that I have the option with the rechargeable battery in the parent units. I can sleep more soundly knowing this monitor will pick up my children's noises in their rooms. This is a great product the range is very good and I have never had interference. This product works great for me in my 2 bedroom apartment. The baby's room is on the opposite side of the house and this picks up sounds quite clearly, but has an option for voice only if you do not want to hear annoying background noise. I have never had a problem with out of range or any type of interference with this product. This monitor comes with a battery charger so you don't go broke buying batteries. We were a bit concerned with interference before we bought this monitor but we have never had a problem. I sleep secure in the knowledge that if my baby makes a noise I will hear it. The "mode" that blocks out white noise and picks up the baby crying is fantastic since the baby sleeps with a white noise CD playing. I love this monitor. Of course I have never had a different one. I got this one because we were not sure if we were going to move, so I thought in that case I would want one in my room and one in the kitchen / living room. When looking for monitors I found out that if you purchase 2 sets and set them to the same setting they will both work. That was a plus for me. Great monitor! It picks up everything (including the cat meowing in the next room over) it's so sensitive. I love the feature where the monitor only turns on when there is noise so that you don't have to listen to that random static sound. The range alarm does go off randomly though, which can be annoying. This is a great monitor, great clarity and goes a long distance. The only bad thing is that if there's any interference or if you turn it slight - walk in front of it - etc...it beeps to tell you that you are out of range. It's a GOOD thing that it tells you that but the beeping is loud and annoying and you can't adjust that volume. A friend recommened this to me and I am so glad that she did. The montior has two settings one that is on all the time and the other that only comes on when there is noise. I use the setting that is on all the time and it is great. I can hear her breating when she is in her crib sleeping. I would not use anything else. I bought this when we have our first baby. It worked really great.....Not noisy as some other brand are, the look also cute...you can plug it in, or you can use battery when you are somewhere with no electrical cord.
