I was given the Sony noise cancelling headphones as a gift. I am no audiophile and can't distinguish between good bass tones or what not, but the sound on these headphones is amazing. I feel as though I can hear my music the way it was intended to be heard, and it sounds a lot better than any other solution that I've tried. So why only three stars? One of the main selling points of these headphones is their noise cancellation, and frankly it just doesn't work. It takes one AAA battery and has an on and off switch. When turned on, the device nearly emits a hissing noise, maybe meant to drown out backgrpund noise. All this does is detract from the great sound quality that these headphones have. So basically I never use the noise cancellation but am very happy with the sound quality. The headphones also have a sleek professional look and are very comfortable, a very important feature when looking for a quality set of headphones.
