The Sony KDL52V5100 is a 52" screen that has beautifully performed for the past 2 years. While a lot of people complain about the fact that this is a 60Hz television, the fact is that even compared side by side with a 120Hz Sony tv that currently resides in an adjacent room, there is no noticeable difference in performance between the two. While this model has been discontinued, if we were in need of this particular size, we would not hesitate to purchase it based on the clarity of the picture and overall performance of the set over almost 3 yrs. Pros: Clarity of picture, clarity of sound, the ability to change settings on screen to adjust the screen size, switch between OTA antenna, satellite or cable. Ease of connectivity to various peripherals, ample inputs via HDMI to game consoles and laptops, and a host of inputs via regular cables. Internet upgrades via USB drive or Ethernet cable. DNLA system (optional) to connect set to internet and use the television as a giant computer screen. HD signals via OTA are clear, rich in color saturation and better than the HD signal provided via satellite. Reception will only be as good as the signal and OTA signals are not compressed, the difference is noticeable since there is no intermitten pixelation or freezing of the picture. It this last one is an issue the set is not to be blamed, but the signal being received. Cons: Much heavier set that newer models, but since we are not hauling around a 52" set, once placement has been chosen, it is no longer an issue. Hesitate to hang this set on the wall without a lot of support from heavy duty frames and solid studs. It sits on a stand in a huge opening above the fireplace. We throughly have enjoyed this television for the past couple of years and don't foresee 'upgrading' to a different model with more feature for many more years to come.

This is a really nice television, however it is not the same quality that we have been used to from Sony. We have always bought Sony electronics because of the great quality, so we were a little disappointed. Now with that said, I do still think this is a very nice television. The picture is great! You can see a clear picture from every angle. This television produces a crystal clear image. I didn't realize how great it was until we went into best buy and saw all the televisions side by side ( we ordered this tv online through sony style, so we took a risk). You had to look at some of the televisions straight on to see a clear image. Once you looked at them from the side, the image would look kind of blurry. It doesn't matter what angle you are watching this tv from, you'll get the same great image. You definintely won't be disappointed. The negatives for this television is that it is slow to turn on and change channels. This is where we were disappointed. It is extremely slow to change channels! Overall, not a bad tv.

I am an avid fan of Sony products especially when it comes to tvs.  I've never bought any other brand of tvs.  As technology gets better, Sony keeps coming out with better and great looking products.  I bought this tv with this assumption and had not been disappointed.  I orignally wanted to get a smaller size, like maybe just 46 inches, but when i saw the 52 inch in the store, i couldnt resist.  The salesperson said it is never too big.  So with free delivery, home we go with it. It looks great with on my wall.  I think the 120 herz and 240 herz is not much of any naked eye difference.  i have hd cable and i can see everything very cleary and it's just great.  My family all loves and when friends come over, they always compliment on it.  In conclusion, if you have the space (distance wise) for a large scale 52 inch tv, do buy this one, or if they come out with a 55 inch, get that one, the bigger the better.

I purchased a Sony BRAVIA KDL-52S5100 52 in. HDTV LCD TV because of the good price I received.  I already owned a high def. 50" screen TV, but the price was so good for this 52" that I figured I could sell the other TV to offset the cost of this new one.  (I also have several smaller high-def. flat panel TVs.  I was really suprised how the picture is so much clearer and sometimes seems to be coming right at you (like a 3D would).  I have put a picture I took of my pet hamster when he was picked pet of the day.  You can see how clear the picture is.  It appears as though he is climbing out of the Sony BRAVIA KDL-52S5100 52 in. And this was not even on a high def. channel!  HDTV LCD TV.  The picture is great whether you are watching a live sporting event, soap operas or even prime time television.  Watching a movie on it is like going to the movie theater without the sticky floor and overpriced tickets!  The Sony BRAVIA KDL-52S5100 52 in. HDTV LCD TV is a great TV and a bargain (even if I had not get it on sale and had to pay full price). I would recommend this to anyone.  Everyone that sees it cannot believe how good the picture is.  As an added plus, if you do not know electronics too well, it is very easy to hook-up and set-up.  Sometimes things say easy to install and are pretty hard to set up (and I happen to know electronics), but the Sony BRAVIA KDL-52S5100 52 in. HDTV LCD TV truly is easy to set up.
