My husband needed an alarm that would wake him up. This is no easy task! This clock has a great volume selection. We use the radio alarm and it comes on blasting! Most days when it goes off I jump out of the bed in a sound sleep. I dont have to wake up, but when it goes off for him I nearly jump out of my skin. It's a great clock for people who are heavy sleepers or have a hard time getting up in the morning. It's not one of those cheap clocks where it barely goes "buzz" if you like that noise better over a radio. Another great feature is teh battery backup. When we have a power outage we never have to worry about the clock blinking or resetting and over sleeping. It goes into battery mode automatically and keeps accurate time.

I've owned the Sony Dream Machine alarm clock radio for about three years and can't say I have any major complaints about it.  It has a lot of nice features included with it, my favorite being you can't set the alarm clock without turning it on.  No more setting the alarm clock but it not going off in the morning because you forgot to switch it on!!!  It has two different alarms that can be set, which is nice when you have different wake up schedules throughout the week.  Another feature of this alarm clock is that it automatically adjusts for daylight savings time.  Additionally it has batteries so that the clock continues to run, tells time, and the alarm goes off even though you my have a power outage.  The designers of this alarm clock addressed many typical alarm clock features when they created this one.  If I could change one thing I believe I would make the digital numbers red rather than green as I believe they shoe up a little better during the day.
