Beautiful, but be wary of the reception!

4

I love my phone to pieces. It is looks beautiful, and is a solid phone. I've dropped it my fair share of times and you can't even tell. It runs windows mobile 6.1 so you can install many different types of applications. Unless you would rather have windows mobile 6.5, you would need the X2. Trust me, you will want these extra programs since the default windows programs are quite dull such as solitaire and this balloon popping game. The alarm system could also be upgraded since you can only set up 3 alarms. I ended up downloading a free alarm to substitute. There is also a recording option, but it can only record up to 2 minutes, which is pretty useless as well since I needed a recorder to record my lectures in class.  The touchscreen option uses a really sensitive capacitor, which is much more responsive than other phones such as the iPhone and T-mobile myTouch (for some reason I can't get those to recognize my touch). If you like typing on the screen though, this may not be the best phone for that since the keyboard is tiny, and rotating the screen will require to you install a Panel from SPB (This phone does not have an accelerometer that recognizes which direction the phone is in). There is also a stylus to help if that makes it better. It will make your Xperia experience much better! This panel allows you to rotate the screen and type. Otherwise, you can just slide out the keyboard. I believe this phone has one of the nicer designs for the keyboard, and the buttons are well spaced so it is good for those with fat fingers. The keyboard doesn't offer more functions like other phones, such as direction arrows, but to me, those seem unnecessary.  My main complaints for this beautiful phone, though, is the reception problem. It is perfectly fine in areas with a lot of signal (this phone uses a sim card so isn't for those with verizon or sprint), but if the reception isn't too great, you are for sure going to get dropped calls. The antenna on this phone is terribly placed, right on the bottom of the phone. So if you are to talk on your phone cupping the bottom of it, I believe your hand creates some sort of static field that disrupts the antenna and reception. Also, since the phone is metal, the metal backing of the phone also blocks some of the reception capacity as well, so you are sure to have one less bar than you normally would, which is quite disappointing.  Also, one tiny complaint is that there are no developers for the Xperia Panels! I thought there would be more, but it seems like everyone would rather develop applications for the iphone or tmobile google phones and the xperia is just abandoned with nothing. There hasn't been a new application available in quite some time and there wasn't many to begin with.  Oh yeah, although you could make your own ringtones nowadays, I really like the default Xperia ringtone. It is so cute! Nice phone, but very pricey. I do like my Sony products though!  Battery Life Drains easily if using wifi. Drains for no reason sometimes. If you power off your phone and turn it back on, you'll find that you just lost 50-80% of your battery. Call Quality Easy to lose reception in a location with one or two bars due to the way you hold your phone. I have to set the phone on the table and use the headset or speaker in order to avoid dropped calls. Ease of Use Easy to use if you are better with technology. None of my friends and family can figure out how to use this phone. Durability It is a trooper in that my phone has dropped on many occasions. I do have several cracks on the edges of the phone. The keyboard no longer functions (which is a reported problem with just about everyone who owns this phone).

Terrible interface

2

I had this phone for about 3 weeks before I decided I had enough. I tried my best to like this, but no matter what I did I could not bring myself to find anything this phone does properly. The reception is weaker than in my other phones, and the touch screen is of horrible quality. I found myself constantly tapping the screen in order for it to register the command. The build quality is pretty good and the phone can take a beating, but what good is it if the software is so crippled? The worst thing about the interface is that everything is a waiting game. In order to do even the simplest tasks like opening up my phone book I had to sometimes wait 3 or 4 seconds. While that may not seem like a lot, it gets old really fast when you want to look at something quickly on your phone. The camera is mediocre, and the speakers are of average quality. The keyboard is of terrible quality, and I actually had the space bar split in half within about 2 weeks of careful use. It's a shame, because this could have been a decent phone if it was running anything but Windows mobile.

Love my Experia

Got this phone today as a replacement to my old one because it decided to be broken at the worst time of the year. Love the overall appearance of the phone. The only thing with it is be careful of what you touch, as you might end up on different settings. Try to set my default language(which suppose to be English) and just a slight touch, for some reason I end up touching Argentina language. Took  couple customer rep to help me back on the default language settings that it suppose to be. Aside from that trouble I had, so far so good and I loving this phone.

Xperia X1 looks nice but what to do on it?

3

When i first saw this cellphone I was so excited. It looked so nice, and seems more durable than some other phone I used. It's just like a mini-computer of a sort, with the folders and everything. When I finally got it, I called all my friends, and then played some free games on it. After a while my love for it died. When i started using it, there seemed to be a lot of glitches or bugs. Every once in a while the screen would just start to look like when I opened the keyboard. The screen would turn on it's side even when i did not have the keyboard out. Also all or most of the games were timed and ran out. I was not willing to spend anymore than I already had, so the only game I have on it was soduku which gets annoying. Though one time I discovered something interesting about it. When you use the camera you can turn on a light in the phone. It's like a mini built in camera. It might not show very far but it was quite interesting...for me. Even though this phone did not fit me, I thought it was nice.

The phone is Sony Ericsson and the model is Generic A1. The phone is good because there is a calore counter for those people who are watching their weight as well as a stopwatch.   They also have a feature where when you walk or run they count that and in the end you can check your results to see how you did.
