I had noticed this phone immediately after walking into the dealership. The specs looked good and being as I've had so many issues with other brands I figured I'd give Sony a shot.
After getting it home, I fell in love. Not only is this cellphone equipped with mp3 and video playback, but an FM transmitter (which can be preset to your favorite radio stations), Music Dj which allows you to create your own ringtones, a 2MP camera (and video recorder) which has features such as Macro, Black and White, Sepia, Nightshot ect. You can also edit your photos directly on your phone with everything from artistic filters to adding devil horns and text. You can use animated graphics as backgrounds, which gives your phone a totally new look from the usual 2d images.
One thing I must make abundantly clear, this phone has possibly the best battery life of any phone I have seen. It has lasted through 7 hours of mp3 playback before draining completely. Not only this, but it takes roughly 45 minutes for me to regain a full battery charge which is excellent for those of us who are constantly on the go.
The memory card for this phone is a Memory Stick, which is easily available if you ever want to upgrade. I currently have a 4 gig card, which has 433 songs on it and is just over half capacity.
As for ad-ons, the headset (factory included) for this phone is a Mushroom style ear-bud set which suction to your ears. They have 3 sizes of covers so you can use those appropriate to the size of your own ears and never have to battle to get your headset to stay on! The audio receiver is attached to the headset and has a button so you can answer and end calls without digging your phone out. The reciever is also the female jack for your headphones so you can use any set you want.
After you have purchased any Sony Ericsson you can register your phone on their website, which gives you access to loads of free backgrounds ringtunes screensavers and games. All of the software you need to setup and play with your phone is included in the box, and the usb cable will charge your phone while it is hooked up to your computer.
The W810i is bluetooth equipped, and can be synchronized with your other devices. You can also purchase an attachment that will transmit your music into an FM signal, so you can play the tunes from your phone over the radio in your car, home stereo ect.
And lastly, but possibly most importantly this phone is the most childproofed (smash proofed) cellphone I have ever owned. It has been dropped and trown countless times, on concrete, out a car window, even in a puddle once and has yet to even scratch! It once stalled, but a simple reboot it and all was well.
I would definately buy this phone again and again!
