The Sony Erricson TM-506 is a nice, basic phone & easy to use.

I've had Sony Ericssons in the past, and I wasn't to keen to have another.  My last one was not user-friendly, but this one was specifically recommended to me.   It is quite easy to use, so I'm happy with it.  It's nothing fancy, but it's just what I need. The camera is especially good.  It takes much better quality photos than I would have expected.  Popping them onto the computer and a little photoshopping creates results that are definitely frameable. One complaint I have is with the data.  It takes a memory card, but you have to buy the Sony Ericsson brand card.  I hate proprietary technology like this.  If they had made it accept a micro SD card, I would have given the phone five stars.  In order to get the photos off my phone, since I don't have data service, I had to buy a BlueTooth USB receptor for my desktop. The variety of rings available is also a little disappointing, but it is fun to play with the Music DJ feature.  (It would be even more fun if all of the songs that come out of it didn't sound like 70's cop television show theme songs!) All in all, I'm happy with this phone.

Great phone for the basic user

I got this in 2008 from a crappy Nokia. There are a lot more features in this phone than one may want, which is good. The phone is good-looking, light, and has amazing battery life. There are various themes and designs you can choose from. There is bluetooth where you can hook it up to your laptop and add music, pictures and even games! There are lots of games and apps available for this phone, just google them , download them to your computer and hook it up to your phone. It's easy and fast and it is something that not all regular phones may have. I used the browser once (via 3G) and it was kinda slow so don't expect to use it often. If you want browser experience go for a smart phone. Texting is simple, easy and the numpad is very responsive and easy to press. Camera is decent for this phone. Has video for up to 30 seconds with zoom in feature. again, nothing special. The screen does scratch easily, so be careful of that.

Stylish Phone

3

The Sony Ericsson TM506 is a stylish looking phone in today's phone era (in America at least since Asia seems to have more variation). It's a flip/clamshell phone that comes in bold colors(either green/black, Orange/black, or Amber/black) and performs as a functional messaging phone. The TM506 doesn't have a qwerty keyboard but rather the standard phone dials which I prefer in a nonsmart phone because I think landscape slideout keyboards are lame. The text memory doesn't get overfilled to the point where the phone will ask you to clear the memory out constantly in my experience. The Mediaplayer is reminiscent of the playstations's xmb but isn't quite as sleek nor as functional but works just fine. My favorite part of the TM506 was being able to flash the phone(hacking of sorts) to be able to alter the theme files to create custom themes aside from icon custom themes. It would allow you to change the icons selector to things like graffiti splats(my favorite) or circling photon lights- creating a personal look. The TM506 is a looker in my book and definitely something I'd get for someone who wasn't interested in a smartphone or mass texting. Oh before I forget battery life was awesome. 2+ days minimum for me.

Please.. stop using sony erricson cell phone

1

i have to say after this cell phone i swear to myself i will never use any sony erricson's cell phone. I have sony erricson cell phone before and the software is already slow. So the newer version of the software.. still really really slow and the worst thing is that at the end.. it just crashes. The only thing  the about sony erricson's cell phone is that the look of the phone is stylish. After abone out one year using the phone.. left part of the flip screen broke off and after a little the phone crashes automatically. After start the phone... you can click for like couple second then it will freeze and then.... you can't do anything until it automatically goes to blackscreen.. i believe the phone is still on but there is nothing you can do... so they phone is dead. I wasn't able to save any of the data in the phone memory but lucky to have the photos in the memory card. Overall, it's not durable and the memory card have to be the sony ones which is very expensive compare to micro sds.

Great 3G phone especially if you can tether it.

I used a Sony Ericsson TM506 on T-Mobile's U.S.A. network for over a year, for a non-smartphone it has a good feature set. The screen on the phone is 240x320 and is very sharp for it's size.  It has a 2.0 Megapixel camera, that for a phone does pretty well.  The keys are nice and big, and work well with the T9 text prediction. It is possible to replace the T-Mobile branded software with generic Sony software that will allow you to tether the phone to your PC, which is where the 3G capabilities of the phone are really utilized. The generic Sony software also has a full featured IMAP mail client. Build quality of the phone is very good, the hinge looks beefy and never showed any signs of weakening during my use of the phone. There are a couple of drawbacks, however. The first is that for storage expansion, you have to use Sony's Memory Stick micro, and not the more standard Micro SD. The other is that for a 3G phone, web browsing could be a lot faster. All in all, though, for non-smartphone, the TM506 is a very decent phone.

Good choice if you haven't yet graduated to a smart phone

If, like me, you haven't graduated to smartphone technology, don't need a keyboard with your phone, need a phone to make phone calls (imagine that!) and want a flip phone that looks sleek and nice, this Sony Ericcson is the one for you. Mine is scarlet color. The flip phone design means no buttons are accidentally pressed when it's sitting in my purse but, with a press of the side button, I can see the time and if I've got any calls or messages. You can text, take a photo or surf the web on the Sony but I use mine almost exclusively for making calls. Mine is compatible with TMobile's My Faves calling circle plan and displays my current calling circle each time it's flipped open for ease of finding those often called people. It is bluetooth compatible or can be used with the enclosed earbud for hands free conversation. I'll likely graduate to a smartphone within the next year but, for now, the Sony Ericcson is a great, basic phone with just enough features and a nice look to keep my satisfied.

The Sony Ericsson TM506 has both positive and negative to it.

After my Motorola Rizr phone bit the dust, I searched my cell phone company's site for a new phone and came across the Sony Ericsson TM506. I thought it looked really nice. I even decided to go back to a flip phone (instead of a slide phone) to give it a try. I have been somewhat pleased. Because it takes a memory card that allows me to store a lot of text messages and pictures so that I do not have to delete them more than monthly. On that same note however, the phone likes to turn itself off and turn back on for absolutely no reason at all and this causes you to lose all of your text messages that you may have had saved to your memory card. Although, you do not lose your pictures, which I find more important that the text messages, I do not like that the phone does this. Also, another issue, I save everything on my phone to the memory card. However, the phone comes up with an error message a lot saying that the phone memory is low and that I need to delete files. There are no files for me to delete to clear up this phone memory and so I have to turn the phone off and on, quite often, so that the phone memory can reset. Sony products are typically pretty good. That is why I decided to try this one. However, the next time I go in for a phone. I will not be buying Sony again. Samsung seems to be the best when it comes to phones.

The Sony Ericsson TM506 does everything I need and does it well.

This phone has a great screen, takes clear amazing pictures, great videos, holds tons of pictures, contacts, videos, etc. I can't think of anything negative I would say about this phone other than at times, it takes a second to catch up to what you're doing (especially when writing out a text message). Other than that, it's a great phone.

I recieved this phone from my fiance because i was having alot of problems with my old phone. I really like this phone because the key pad on it is soft and very easy to use. It takes very nice pictures! When I first got the phone I was having a hard time with the texting part. When you are texting it starts by showing you all the letters on that number and you have to go and pick the letter you want, which takes a very long time! So after playing with it while I found an area where you can do what is called spell word. Which is your normal texting then you add the words to the dictionary, so when you are using the regular text you can highlight the word and it will show up in your text. It also has a place where you can put differnt monster faces for ex. happy, said, kiss, hug and etc. Once you learn how to do it, it is very nice. Just takes sometime getting use to. The phone has many features. They are voice notes, call history,t-zones,im and email, messaging, media, camera, contacts, entertainment, help, organizer and settings. Each of these have different things you can do when you select it. I like the back of the phone its almost like rubber, so if you drop your phones alot like I do then as long as it falls on the back it will be ok. my least favorite part of the phone is the color, it is green and black. I dont know what other colors it comes in. if someone asked me if they should get this phone I would say yes. It has good sound quality and so far I havent had any problems.

SonyErickson is Sleek and Easy to use

5

I have a Sony Erickson Flip Phone, and I wouldn't trade it for any other more modern phone on the market today.  I come from the older generation and I don't need all of the fancy things available on phones today. My Sony Erickson Flip Phone does everything I need in a phone, I can call people, I can text people, I can take a picture and send them thru text messaging to anyone capable of receiving pictures. When shopping for my new phone, my daughter tried to talk me into one of those more modern phones, with the full keyboards and all the fancy extras. But I don't need all the extra confusing features. I really enjoy the flip phone part of my Sony Erickson Flip Phone, I can close it and stick it in my pocket or purse, and I don't have to worry about dialing someone on accident or taking pictures on accident.  I would recomment my Sony Erickson Flip Phone to anyone that likes having a cell phone, with calling, texting and camera, but that doesn't need all the extra fancy stuff to  worry about on their phone.
