Sleek phone

3

I'm just going to say that, since this is my first Sony Ericsson phone, I can't really say anything about the overall reliability of this brand. And also, because this phone came free with my contract, I can't really say anything about the price either. That said, I love this little phone. I don't really ask much from a cell phone-- as long as it can make calls and text, I'm pretty much all set, I don't need web ability or emailing or cameras, although this phone did come with a camera, which was a nice bonus. I love the fact that this phone is small and compact. It's very sleek looking, which is good, because it looks like a super high tech phone when it's closed. When it flips open, it's a very user friendly phone. The buttons are pretty big and the screen is big, and I love the light options for when calls come in. The only thing is the battery doesn't last a very long time. The light options eat up a lot of battery, so it's best to just turn it off. When I have long conversations, the battery goes right down, so I'm a little disappointed with that. But overall, it's a pretty cool phone.

Great flip phone!

For a solid flip phone that you use solely for making phone calls, look no further. This little guy has solid construction and has excellent call quality. The nice part is that they are also free if you get a new contract. No real frills in terms of tech but it's an attractive phone that is fairly stylish so the kids probably won't be embarrassed to carry it around.  Now the bad... Games don't work quite so well on this thing and the camera is nothing to write home about. The chargers and data cables are also Sony proprietary-brand so most standard cables won't work unless you buy some cheap Chinese knockoffs online. You can insert an external memory card but it's also a Sony proprietary format. So you can't just put in a standard microSD. This is a big minus if you like transferring photos and music around your phones. The battery life is also really nice and I find that I can go days without charging. But then again I don't make too many calls. My mom likes this phone a lot too. Heck, just get it for your family members who like no-frills phones and they will love it.  I did note that the Bluetooth functionality wasn't quite as good as some other phones but I had better luck with higher-end headsets. Maybe it was just my old Jabra headset dying on me.

Great Phone

I got married last year to some one  who was on a different cell phone plan.  We waited for both of our contracts to run out, and then got a new plan, and NEW PHONES for us both. Since we were looking to save money, we went with the cheapest, most bare bones phones we could find. I expected the phone to be funcational, but did not expect to like it as much as I do! The phone is nice and slim; it fits easily into my pocket and has survived me dropping it more than once. The pre-programed ringtone choices are rather awful, but it was easy to record and set up my own ringtone. The user mannual is on a file in the phone, which is nice for looking something up RIGHT NOW, but it is a pain to read about all of the features on such a small screen. It'd be great if future editions of the phone could come with a printed instruction manual, as well as as onscreen. My only complaint is that the phone isn't quite comfortable against my ear for long periods of time. However, the speaker phone is loud and easy to hear (a big step up from other phones I've had) so when I'm taking for more than a few minutes, I just switch to speaker phone and give my poor ear a break.

worst cell phone I've ever owned

2

I got this phone when my Razor took a swim.  Worst purchase I've made in a while.  This phone is not comfortable to use at all.  It sometimes dies mid conversation.  I've had it replaced and still have the same problem.  The things I dislike about it most are that you cannot hear it ring even with the  volume all the way up (but the voice on the other end of the line could burst your eardrum if you have the volume at over 3 bars) and  you cannot hear or feel this phone vibrate.  I need that feature when I'm in a meeting, but need to be available shoould my kids need something.  Ironically, my Razor dried out and works better than the Ericson.

For Those Who Love Simple; Yet Sleek & Stylish

5

Many may argue that this phone is reminiscent of the Motorola Rzr that was hot back in 2006 because of the flat keypad on the interior. And the fact that it is a very slim flip phone. It isn't for people who love newfound gadgetry such as touchscreens and smartphones that do practically what a computer can do. Because I would say that this doesn't come up to par if you have those expectations.  HOWEVER, if you are the type of person who would rather have a sturdy, stylish, and trusty phone..then you should by all means-grab this baby. It is an attention-grabber in that way that it is different from the oh-so-popular touchscreen phones that most people are getting and companies are making. Sony was clever to introduce a sleek phone that boasts amazing light effects on the exterior, with a mirror-like finish. What it lacks however, is customizable accessories..maybe that is just because it just recently got introduced in the US. But I'm not hoping for it to match the accessorizing abilities of let's say..the iPhone. The screen itself is very vibrant. It says it has a 3.0 mp camera, but unfortunately is is blurry for me. I do not know why this is. But I don't use my cell phone to take pictures anyway. It was just for testing purposes. If you are looking for a phone that will take close to professional photos...I'd say go with something else. The major plus for me is the radio capability. Very handy for someone who likes to listen to music, like me, but doesn't always want to listen to the same songs on my playlist. It has the ability to expand memory with the Sony M2 Card...it DOES NOT use Micro SD cards. Sony's selection of built-in ringtones is also among the best in the market. There are many other features such as themes and gesture control that you'll have to discover for yourself. The bottom line is..it is truly what they say it is...a glam phone. Instead of a "geek" phone.

Amazingly easy to use!

4

I love my new cell phone! After 2 years of switching between a broken sidekick and blackberry, I am so glad to have a phone that is simple to use. The Equinox has a real easy to use interface. I can make calls with just two clicks. It's also really easy to think of it as just a phone, no unneeded features. However, it is a fully loaded cell phone, pretty comparable to a smart phone. No, it doesn't have a full keyboard but with T-9 I don't really need one. It has a music player, video player (with the right service plan), access to facebook and twitter. It has a decent camera that takes pictures or video. The Equinox also is sync-able to a computer, both PC and Apple. My Equinox syncs seamlessly with my Mac. I have my calender, contacts, photos, and music. It's easy enough for me to use, and when/if I want the extra features they are available why still maintaining the clean, easy to use interface

Sony is well known for quality

The Sony Ericsson Equinox is a great phone and for a simple flip phone it's well worth thye money. The reception is great and talk time is easily 10 hours. I love to one-handed text and this phone is easy to use. I also love the light effects on the outside...different lights and such to identify callers. I love the GPS and google maps, the web browsing feature without an outrageous rate plan from Tmoble, and the ability to get on my facebook, My Space, and Twitter with the press of a couple of buttons. I love the flip style and the bluetooth capabilities. The camera itself takes very clear pictuires and actually look as though they were taken with a real camera and not a phone. Call clarity is amazing and I've had no dropped calls since I started using it. I like the keypad, the keys are well defined. The lid to the flip is plastic and the only worry I have is that maybe if I drop it, it won't be able to take it.
