I am a person who travels a lot, especially with a small child. This invention is such a life saver! You don't have to listen to small child crying because he is bored and wants to watch something. The quality of this device is awesome. Battery life holds for a few hours and so easy to recharge in car or switch out batteries. I would recommend this to anyone that has to travel. Its great for me to use when I have to be a passenger.

What an amazing little gadget to have on the plane as I was flying over to Hawaii. It was perfect. I went to Hawaii and watched dvds on it during the 5 hour flight to Hawaii. The sound was perfect and so ws the picture. I charged it up before I went home and when I left Hawaii. I really enjoy the portable dvd as I can take long roads trips with friends and watch movies on it as well.

We bought this Sony DVP FX930 9 in DVD player last year, just before we took a trip to see my family in Canada. We were taking both our kids, and it was going to be their first time on a plane, so we decided we needed to get something to keep them occupied not only on the plane, but while driving around in Canada. We love that the battery life is up to 6 hours! That was so helpful to us, especially on our way back, because we had a lengthy lay-over. We hooked up some headphones to it, and my 3 year-old was entertained with his favorite movie many times! I like that it's small, yet not so small you can't see anything. It's also very light weight, and the image is great! I like that there's a 'lock' option, so I don't have to worry about my 3 year-old pressing all the buttons and changing movie scenes etc. I thought the volume was just right. We don't need it any louder with small children.

This is a great portable dvd player, I've taken it to basketball games and able to watch movies on the way home from them. It was great picture, quality, battery life and the like. I also shared with my former girls basketball team when we were on the way home and all the girls got into watching the movie with me. high school musical one.  they all could see it and even the boys in the back were able to watch it. We had fun and bonding time though the sound quality was a bit low. regardless we had fun watching movies  In the end i say it was definately a worth while experience. it was costly but when you want good quality you have to be able and willing to spend alittle extra. We had alot of fun though and the screen was good quality for a nine inch. I would recommend this to my friends and family especially those with children because it's excellent for road trips and keeping everyone entertained.

I have had this unit for about 6 months now, and I feel very comfortable reviewing it. Our three year old daughter is the main "user" of this, and it's very hand when we need to take her places where she needs her attention divertered (e.g. meetings, long trips, etc.). The overall build quality felt a little worse than I was first expecting. I remember the older Sony gadgets, and even today on higher end ones, where they would use more metal and the unit would feel more substancial (not just heavier), and simply well built. Not really the case here, it is very plasticky. It's also quite thick as well, perhaps a little more than I thought it would be. When it comes to playing videos, though, it really shines with it's nice 9" screen and high resolution. The controls could certainly be better as I often press the wrong direction with the multi-direction interface, and the touch-sensitive menu button is located at a horrible place. Still, because of it's video performance (not to mention the awesome battery life) I would recommend this unit to anyone.

I bought this DVD for our kids for Christmas.  We only use it for long trips and as a treat when we're camping but its really nice to have.  After I opened up the package, I was a little concerned.  The structural quality isn't what I typically associate with Sony.  Just more thin plastic than I was expecting. But, the DVD player works pretty well.  I wish I'd held out for a swivel screen.  It's compact but the screen is small.  It's definitely lightweight and it plays movies well.  If I could change a single thing though, it would be the sound.  For some reason, the sound sometimes seems off.  It's like we can't get it loud enough for our kids to really hear it well. Our portable DVD player came with a house plug but no car adapter.  We use a converter in our cars to make it work so we don't have to worry about the battery too much.  We've tried the battery and it will last through most of 1 movie.  The controls are right there on the base and easy to use.  Overall, it's a good product, just lower quality than I'm used to seeing with Sony.

My husband and I bought this Sony DVP-FX930 Portable DVD Player this past summer of 2009.  We wanted the best picture and battery life we could buy.  We succeeded when purchased this one!  Wow!  The picture is amazing for a portable DVD player.  It has 800 x 480 resolution which means you are able to watch movies in much more detail than other portable DVD players. It has a 180 degree swivel and flip screen so it makes it nice to adjust to your position verses you adjusting to the DVD players position.  Oh....and I love this.....up to 6 hours battery life!  We took it camping with us and it was great to sit out among the stars and watch a good movie on a 9 inch high resolution screen.  When the battery ran low we simply plugged it into the In-car charger (cigarette lighter) that came with the DVD player.  I found you can watch 2 full movies before it needs charged again.  It is supposed to have 6 hours of charge but I think the raised volume and LCD backlight set to high shortens the battery charge. The player features a USB port, which allows you to play MP3, JPEG and DivX from a flash memory drive, two headphones outputs and two minijacks, one audio in/out and one video in/out. Sensitive touch menu buttons, remote control, AC adaptor and audio/video cable. Those audio/video cables came in handy when our home DVD player quit working and we had company over to watch a movie.  I just grabbed the Sony DVP-FX930 Portable DVD Player and plugged in the cables and presto we were in business.  We connected it to our 65 in HDTV and the picture was great!  Not as good as a Blu-ray but equivelant to any regular DVD player.  That's saying a lot for a portable! I highly recommend this portable DVD player!  We couldn't be happier!

I love the swival screen on this player. It is nice to take in the car. The battery stays cool, so children can hold it on their lap. My two children can either watch their own movie in their player, or link their players together and watch one movie on both players. GREAT player!

This is a great Sony portable DVD player.  It has a 800 x 480 hi-resolution 9-inch screen so the picture looks sharp, unlike other brands with lower resolution screens.  It also has a rechargeable battery that lasts up to six hours before it needs recharged.  In addition, It has A/V inputs and outputs so you can feed the player's signal into a TV set, or feed a signal from an external device into the player and use it as a small TV monitor.  There are a full set of controls for brightness, contrast, and color.  The screen swivels and flips for easy viewing. The DVD part of the player also works great.  It does not skip when moved or bumped.  It plays all discs well, even badly scratched discs play in this player. A sensitive remote control, that also works great, is included with the player. This is a well made Sony portable DVD player, with a great picture that is a joy to watch.  I highly recommend it.
