A great portable DVD player for young kids

somewhat tech savvy, father of three kids under 8

We recently bought the Sony DVP FX810 at Best Buy. It is small, works well and seems to be very durable. The battery life lasted for a flight from Chicago to San Francisco. The biggest innovative feature is the screen that turns around and lies flat and the screen that seems to be made of a very durable material. budget conscious, computer literate, too busy to be tired or sick, noticing the details

We have had a few of the cheap portable DVDs for our kids to use on airplane or car trips, and they have not delivered. This time, we decided to get a name brand DVD player, and see how different things might be. This Sony model did not disappoint, and it was a bargain, too - $149 (no tax, no shipping) from Amazon, before Christmas. Great DVD player. Long battery life (6 hours), nice screen, easy to use. It comes with a remote control and car adapter as well. The only bad thing is that the volume does not go as loud as I would like it to.
