Best easy point and shoot digital camera ive ever had!

5

This is one awesome little camera for the price. Many great options to go through. I love the shutter option for trying to catch lightning when its storming =) I take pictures of EVERYTHING from my plants and animals to my kids and anything in between. LOL I got the camera two years ago after i lost mine in a tornado. It has been through heck. My kids tore the battery lid off and had messed the lens up so that the camera would not turn on but its been easy fix every time and still works perfect without the battery cover (just have to be careful that i dont release the battery!! If you are looking for a simple point and shoot i would definitely recommend this camera. And you cant go wrong with Sony anyway right? =) Image Quality Ive noticed that sometimes when i get a blurry image its because the lens is fogging up. Not sure what thats about. Only recently started doing it though, so maybe because of age. But overall image is very very good if you are steady hand! Durability Has lasted for 2 years so far with 2 toddlers tossing it around and messing with it!!

What else do you need to say...Its a Sony!

To start out I found this camera and its the best money Ive never spent!  I had a 8.0MP Olympus that before this and I have to say this Sony blows it out of the water even though it has less megapixels.  It takes crisp clean pictures.  Unless you are a professional photographer you dont need anything more than this.  Shutter speed has always been my pet peeve with digital cameras.  I normally miss the shot I want because it takes cameras too long to process the picture.  But not this Sony.  You press the button and when you look at the picture its actually what you meant to take.  I really like the burst setting where it allows you to take pictures in a row with releasing the button.  I used it to take pictures of the Discovery Launch on 22 Mar 09.This camera also has a lot of options for modifying how it takes a picture.  To me it has way more than all the other bottom line digital cameras. The only part I dont like about it is that you have to remove the battery to charge it.  But since I found it I had to buy a charger anyways so I bought one that converts to a car charger.

My camera that I love!

I do truly enjoy this camera. It takes good close up pictures. I received it as a christmas present from my husband 2 years ago and it is still working great. I only wish that when I snap the picture that it would take immediately. There is a small delay and when my infant son smiles, I feel that I miss some of them at times. Otherwise, it is a great product and I would recommend it.

works great for the typical user, but not fantastic.

As the first digital camera that I have owned, I'm quite happy with my Sony Cyber Shot.  It takes beautiful pictures, especially outside in bright sunlight.  It has smile recognition, which is great fun, even if not totally helpful or useful.  (it is a meter that goes up when your smile gets bigger, and takes the picture automatically only when your smile is big enough.)  There are different color settings for fireworks, beach, snow, and twilight, and you can also play with those settings yourself.  There is video as well, but while you are recording you cannot zoom.  The downside to this camera is that it doesn't take the greatest pictures inside without a flash.  To others this may not be a problem, but I have a particular distaste for the flash-- I don't really like what it does to the image, even while it brightens the picture.  But, if you don't mind that, then this camera is great!

Technical weenie? The Sony DSC-W120 is for you!

If you are technically challenged, but would like a great digital camera, this is the camera for you!  The Sony DSC-W120 is very user friendly.  After I charged the battery and loaded it and the memory card into the camera, within 10 minutes of following the easy to read instruction manual I was taking photos successfully!  I don't use my digital camera on a daily basis, but have found it to be a great help by keeping it in my purse and taking it with me wherever I go.  Not only can I preserve and share memories and special moments, but I can protect myself and others too!        My digital camera became a God send when I accidentally hit someones parked car in a parking garage.  I took over a dozen different photos, with and without the parking security attendants that I called.  The security took my statement since we had no way of contacting the other owner of the damaged car, and upon examining the spot the car was parked in, it was determined that the over-sized vehicle was illegally parked in a compact spot.  I was not at fault and my digital photos proved it.  I never paid a penny, the other owners insurance covered the damage to my car, and they received a citation for illegal parking!  My husband no longer teases me about bringing the camera!        The Sony DSC-W120 is easy to use and a pleasure to own.  It is fairly small and with a good camera case tucks right in to my purse.  It is not too heavy, and is ready to take photos instantly after turning on.  I am pleased with my purchase, and would highly recommend  this camera to all, weather you are hesitant to try digital or not.  Love it!

Decent Sony Camera, but failing as time goes by

This camera started off very well when I got it about two years ago, but now it's having some problems starting up and writing/processing pictures. I don't know if it's because of heat/humidity, but I've never dropped the phone before. I have had it in my backpack and maybe hit it against something gently, but that's about it! As time went on, it has taken longer and longer to start up. It's pretty annoying, I remember when I first had it and it would be ready to take pictures after a second or two, now it takes at least five seconds. I know it's doesn't sound like too much, but when you're trying get some action shots or trying to capture a special moment, every second is precious! Another time lag that is occuring more and more often is after taking a picture, it takes longer to write and process the picture which is annoying when I want to take multiple shots in a short amount of time. Still pictures are very crisp and sharp. They look great when you blow them up on the computer. The image stabilizer is decent, but not great. Taking action shots during sporting events will not work out well. Video recording is very fast and doesn't miss a beat. The quality is very bad in low light situations though. It may look great on the camera when replaying, but it is very dark when you upload it to the computer. There's also a timer for pictures, smile shutter (won't take unless a smile is detected), and ISO settings. Overall, good for stills, not so great with action shots like during sporting events. Video can be dark if there isn't enough light when recording. Optical zoom is decent, but not too great. Will get a very grainy picture once it gets to digital. Menus are user friendly though, very easy to move around.

Love my Sony Cyber-shot!

This is the first digital camera I have ever owned, and I got it based on the recommendation of a friend and I just love it. It is 8 megapixels, which is great for me. I generally just take scenery shots, or pictures of my cats, and it takes wonderful photos, there are many features too, all of which I have not yet explored. It is simple to use and easy to scroll thru the various settings (i.e. flash, no flash etc) and it takes great shots inside and outside. It is so easy to grab and be ready to shoot in seconds and I love the zoom feature. I recently used it at a college basketball game and we were seated in the nosebleed section, but it did not matter, I was able to capture shots taken during the game action by zooming in first.

I expect better out of Sony

My husband bought me this camera last year for Christmas and well it is not worth what he paid  for it. I cannot zoom very far at all, and while on vacation somehow all my pictures erased off my camera, and I am the only one that touches it so I know someone didnt hit buttons by accident. I am very unhappy all togethter with my experience with this camera has not been the greatest. I usually love any sony product that we buy but this one is a dud. I guess this would be an alright camera for someone just starting out, but for someone who takes alot of pictures and is more experienced around a camera look elsewhere for a better sony or another brand. Im not trying to bad talk sony at all, I guess I should of went with my husband to pick out a better camera and I would of been able to see taht you cannot zoom very far with this particular sony camera. I would recommend this camera for a beginner.

The Sony Cybershot DSC W120 is lightweight and easy to use!

Let me start off by saying I'm not much of a photographer.  I want to take the picture and I want it too look decent.  That's about it.  This camera fullfills all my camera needs and then some.  I love the size of this camera, it fits easily into my pocket and is very lightweight.  The functions are easy to use.  The 4x zoom I think is good and the quality of the photos seem to be good, especially for what you pay.  It's probably more of an entry level camera than anything else but I'm fine with that.  The viewing screen is large, unlike other cameras I've seen that only have tiny screens to look at.  The battery life is pretty good.  It also has the ability to take movie clips.  The internal memory is small, perhaps my only complaint, but nothing a memory card can't fix.  Overall I am very happy with this digital camera and would certainly recommend it to those looking for a good basic function camera.

Expected more from Sony

Okay, so my husband bought me this camera last year for Christmas and well not even a year later its broke! This camera does not hold up to well. You can't zoom very far with it and to top it off for some reason now my zoom will not work at all! If you are more experienced around cameras and taking photographs this camera is not for you. It might be a good camera for someone starting out or just one to keep around for pictures of the kids. I took this to a NFL football game and couldn't get a clear close up of anything. I guess thats why Canon is the sponser for NFL. Sony is a great trusted name company that I would buy from again, I would just do alot more research on cameras before deciding on one.
