I was very excited when I received this camcorder. It's the most convenient handicam I'd seen. very compact, and easy to manipulate. However, it just did not live up to my expectations or the hype I had heard. I noticed that the quality of the video, even in HQ setting is grainy and a bit washed out....

From afar, the right side of the HV20 has a familiar horizontal design akin to the Sony HC7, albeit with a fresh coat of silver paint. These camcorders have similar tape hatch designs. Only on the HV20, you'll find the microphone jack, AV/headphone jack, and component terminal hiding behind a rubberized port cover toward the lens end of the camcorder. Although we've blasted Canon in the past for equipping their camcorders with flimsy plastic port covers, the HV20 proudly sports a burly, flexible enclosure. I am very pleased with my purchase. This camcorder is very light, and is almost the size of a digital camera. For a 60 GB sony camcorder, I can't believe the price I have paid. Recording was of excellent quality. I couldn't find any weaknesses so far. Some people say lack of viewfinder is a weakness, but in all my past camcorder use, I have always used the LCD to view what I am recording, and not the viewfinder even when there was one. So that was not a weakness for me. And I just love the one touch DVD recording this camera allows me to make.

We have had this camera for about a month and I just love it.  It's easy to use, and so small compared the the camera we use to use.  I love the fact that you can play back your recordings on the camera and have sound.  It is so convenient to charge.  You just place the whole camera, in the base to charge.  There is no need to disconnect the battery.  It has a huge memory and the fact that it records directly to hard drive is a bonus.  No more tapes of even DVDs.  It's terrific.

It's a great camera, although it's listed 2nd or 3rd in CR,  I think it's absolutely magnificent. You have way too much memory for the entire trip, so that you don't have to keep emptying it. Shots are fantastic. Night shots are amazing. Compared to similar product in JVC brand, there is just no comparison. There is one more product "DCR sr62" same features except the memory (30Gig vs 60 Gig). If you don't need that much memory then consider the other one, which is about $100 cheaper.

I love it.... This is the greatest I mean the greatest greatest greastest camcorder.  I love it.  Did I say that I love it.  It takes great I mean great shots.  It is wonderful.  Everyone needs one.  I really mean it, every single person needs one.  It is great to save memories of the kids or family events.  I love it and everyone needs one.

wow this is one great little Camcorder, it takes great video and it is so easy to use and the price tag is not bad.

i love my Sony - DCR SR82 Camcorder and it gets a lot of use at my house.

i would highly recommend this camcorder to anyone that wants a great little camcorder thats works like a dream.

I love this camcorder!  The dock makes it so easy to charge the battery and transfer my videos into my computer to put straight into a DVD.  I also love the fact that the Hard Drive is so large that you can store so many videos before you really have to do anything with them versus changing a tape in the middle of filming.

We bought this camera at Sears and have been thrilled with it's performance.  Easy to use, great quality of footage, very portable.  The only thing that I am a little leary on still is the ease in which one could delete footage with the touch of one button.  Other than that, it's a great camera with clear video.

The sony is very convenient, compact and easy to use, however...if it is great video quality that you are after, this is not the camera for you.  The set up for transfering files to the computer was very easy, but when reviewing the video, it was not the quality that I would have expected.  The audio is not great either.
