had it for three months and a very good job. used for a wedding and was pleased with results. used also at halloween and again it performed in a dim light setting my sister was impressed with the quality of the picture and asked where i got it.

Strengths: small, Light-weight, Night shot, Good battery life, Good picture quality.

Summary: small-fits in palm well.

Sony brand- reliability.

For basic functions, DCR-HC28 is cheaper than this camcorder with almost all the features. Even though this is a good camcorder, I would rather go for DCR-HC28 unless you are looking for specific features which are in this camcorder and not in HC28 (ex- memory card slot)

One of the best features of any electronic device is not remembering the last time you had an issue with it. This camera has been dependable and provided us with quality images, both personally and professionally. It's easy to handle, has the view finder or small screen to see your images through, has a lot of features for people really into getting creative with their filming or someone just looking to capture memories. We've had no issues with its dependability or quality. A great purchase.

Sony DCR-HC30 is a great little video recorder. Gone are the days of lugging around the big bag and lots of extra batteries! It's fun, easy to use and gives great video. I loved taking movies of my children when they were small and we cherish those movies but it was hard carrying the kids and all of that equipment. Now, I just put the Sony in my backpack and take the grandkids to the zoo etc. getting lots of great movies that will last a lifetime. You've gotta love it!

what do the pro's use?  if the better gear isn't available, sometimes it's sony.  that means it's really good for non pros.  not too complex for you to pick up and shoot.  sufficient settings and gizmos to let you do some things.  all in all...go with the name you have known for solid product like this one.
