Sony Cybershot W220 Digital Camera

5

I received this Sony Cybershot W220 Digital Camera as a Christmas gift from my honey about three or four years ago. He knew I wanted a digital camera; but I didn't have any idea what type. I was pleasantly surprised with his selection of the Sony Cybershot. It is so sleek looking and very easy to carry around. I did a lot of experimenting at first, just to get an idea of what all the different settings were for and how to use them. My favorite feature is the zoom. Great when on vacation! Once I got familiar with all the features and settings, I had no problem snapping great pictures. The pictures turn out so clear and the colors absolutely beautiful. The only complaint I have with this Sony Cybershot camera is with the battery life. The battery doesn't seem to hold the charge as long as I feel it should. However, it could just be me and the way I use the camera for hours at a time. I've learned to charge the battery before planning to use it, especially if it's been a while since the last use. Other than that, love my Sony Cybershot camera!

reliable and easy to use

Small, light-weight but sturdy, reliable, easy to use, and takes great pictures even in bad light. Has a lot of different settings, depending on what you're taking and how the lighting is, but I've never had a problem. The zoom and telephoto is great too, plus it will even take short videos!

Decent if you shoot with natural light

I first bought the camera because I was doing study abroad that month and would like to capture some memories. It was a pity I didn't try out the macro mode until later on because it wasn't able to work. No matter how much I fiddled with it, I could not engage the camera into macro mode. The camera takes nice pictures when there is a good light source, but in all other cases, it doesn't fare very well. In the night time even with flash the pictures don't come out well. It takes pictures very poorly indoors as well. I like the burst mode because it can take so many shots in a short period of time, but I feel the effect is nullified since the shots it takes are blurry. The other shooting modes don't do much for me. I would have liked it if there was panorama capability on it. I would also have liked it if I could zoom will recording. I do not know if it is because of my lens, but I assumed that if I take a picture of an object from a distance without zooming in, that I will still be able to yield a clear picture becuase the megapixel count was so high. I was wrong. When I viewed the actual size of the photo, I saw that the object was still unclear and this disappoints me because that is the entire point of one wanting high megapixel count-- for clarity. The battery life is also too short-- it hardly lasted half a day and that was without video recording. At ths point it felt like the time it took to charge the battery exceeded that of camera usage time. The one thing I will say is that it is durable. It's fallen in water and has fallen down half-cliffs and as prevailed.

Sony cybershot is great!

We purchased a Sony Cyber-Shot after many years with Kodak. We purchased it from Best-Buy and it was a great price for the mega-pixels. We love the wide screen for viewing what your taking a picture of. The uploading precess is really easy compared to our old digital camera that had an entire loading dock. This just had a cord that plugs into your usb port on our computer and it also has A/V cables attached to see your pictures on a tv! There is no editing software included that I know of, but most computers have some kind of basiccropping/editing on them. For the novice photographer, this camera is perfect. I have 3 kids, and they love to take pictures, and it has withstood A LOT of handling! The video on on the camera is of good quality, and if you get a larger camera card, you can recorded up to 5 minutes of video and 1000's of pictures on one card!

sony cybershot - easy and good

4

We have the sony cybershot at work and it can be borrowed to use for projects.  I have used it quite frequently and was pleased with how easy it was to use.  Others in the department also agree and when a second camera was needed since the first was often on loan, another cybershot was purchased.  I have also needed to take quite a few close up pictures and there is a setting for close pictures which has offered such amazing clarity that the pictures were very effective in showing the details needed to document and pass on.  The close up pictures have often been in dim lighting but the flash was not typically needed since it does a good job of capturing the available light. The camera is also a great size that fints in ones pocket.  There is a case you can buy that comes with a belt loop and caribeaner.  The caribeaner fits nicely on belt loops.  As a woman, there are many dress pants that do not come with pockets so cliping the camera onto a belt loop keeps it out of the way but very accessible.

Short battery life?

Maybe it is just me but I don't always get great shots with this camera.  Sometimes they are blurred or I get red eye.  Now if I spend some time and have a posed subject I will get a better picture but If I just take a random shot then often it is not clear.  I love the color of the camera.  I also love that it fits in my pocket or purse and I can take it anywhere.  There is a cool feature that makes people look like they are smiling even if they are not.  I love that one.  The only other thing that I can't figure out is that I can charge the battery all day and then I may take 20 pictures and the battery power is down to maybe 2 bars.  I have only had this camera one year so the battery shouldn't be that used by now.  It was actually having that problem at about 6 months.  I wish that the camera would take a normal battery.  I also love that the camera has a wide viewing screen and it is easy to see what you are pointing at.    Overall a great camera for the price and for the average picture taker.

The Sony Cybershot is compact, easy to use and affordable!

We bought the Sony Cybershot W220 a few years ago when our old digital camera just wasn't cutting it anymore and we had accumulated enough Discover rewards points on our credit card to pretty much get one for free off of the Sony website. Since then, we've used it to capture numerous family memories that our old digital camera would have missed because it took so long to actually take the picture. While this camera isn't as fast as some of the cameras I've seen that have just come out, it's been good enough for our family. It has captured the fleeting smiles of my children when they were babies and those quick, gone-before-you-know-it goofy faces children so often make. We've also enjoyed hours of entertainment with the smile feature on the camera, which widens and expands the smiles of pictures already taken, turning regular pictures into goofy ones. Another neat little feature on this camera is the auto setting that automatically takes a picture when the person looking into the lens smiles! Lots of fun, especially if you have children.

Fabulous camera for the price!

Three years ago I purchased a Sony Cybershot camera and was very happy with the product.  About six months ago, a friend of mine dropped it and the LCD screen no longer worked so I had to replace it.  I didn't even hesitate before deciding that I wanted another Sony Cybershot.  I think this camera is very easy to use and takes extremely clear pictures.  I really didn't even have to read the manual to figure out how to use this camera.  The only negative thing I can think of is that if you don't already have a Sony Camera, you have to buy the expensive media cards that only work on the Sony Cameras.  I love the Hot Pink Color and I love the fact that the camera has a video feature as well.  I think this camera offers plenty of pixels and the zoom is sufficient for every photos.  This past Christmas, I also talked my brother into buying the very same camera and he has been just as happy with his camera!

Great camera, great colors

I love documenting everything that happens in my life and the cybershot helps me do just that! I find it to be a great little camera that I can take with me everywhere. It has user friendly functions, but if you know how to really use it you can use some more of the advanced features. The picture quality comes out great, crisp and clear. You can use a larger memory stick so you don't have to move around your pictures onto your computer after just one day (though the memory stick isn't quite as popular as other options like SD cards in other cameras). It turns on right away and you can review pictures without even having turned it on. It doesn't have much internal memory if you want to take pictures without plugging in your card, however, you can also adjust how big or small you want the picture to be so you can use that to save some space. I've had my camear for a long time now and its durable enough and the quality is good enough to not even think about getting another one any time soon.

great camera for any occasion

ok so i have to say this camera is one of the best I've every recieved. my daughter bought me this camera for mother's day. We went to the park to take pictures and the color is great. You can use it for anything. At graduations at birthday parties or when you just want to take some pictures- does it all. The size helps because it can fit anywhere i usually  have it in my pocket and i dont even know it's there. I have the pink one and everyone wants it- they say that the color is great and would want to buy one. i would 100% buy this for any friend. the price is great you can even find it under 150 which is great. the screen is a decent size the only thing i have a small problem with is when i want to take videos it gets stuck and i have to wait about 5 through 10 seconds until i can successfully take a video. overall the colors are great, the picture is great and its very easy to carry around. i would recommend it to anyone.
