Nice but has one flaw

4

This camera is real nice, best one I have ever owned. However I have not found batteries that seem to last for it. I do not get as many pictures as desired before the batteries die. But love the picture quality I do get from this camera. I have taken some amazing pictures of my kids with this camera, almost better than school pictures! I really love this camera just wish the battery life was better. Image Quality Absolutely love the picture quality I get from my Sony Cyber Shot!! However not impressed with the video quality. Tried to video an awards ceremony at my children's school and it turned out horrible. I was sad that it was such a bad video, I could not even recognize my own kids in it. Performance Performance gives me no problems, I love how well it works! Ease of Use It was a little complicated at first, but I soon figured everything out. Durability Have not had any durability problems so far. Battery Life Not at all impressed with the battery life. Portability Love it! Small enough to carry yet takes amazing pictures.

Very small buttons/ Good CAmera

I've had this camera for a while. I like the pictures, the quality of pictures the ease of downloading the pictures to the computer. YOu can just take the memory stick and put it in your computer or printer and download the pictures. What I don't like is the menu is extensive and I still don't understand or know what all the settings are. I've had a very hard time figuring out how to save the pictures to the memory stick or to the camera(which only holds about 1 or 2 pics). Once I get it to the memory stick I just pray it stays there because I don't know how to navigate to the memory stick. The buttons for red-eye, trash, close-up etc. are so small I often hit the wrong button. Al in all though this is a good camera. I would recommend it, it isn't expensive and it is easy to download pics.

A considerable-quality camera in sub-par hardware

3

I originally received this camera as a high school graduation gift.  It's very high-quality when you get it out of the box: photos look crisp and high-res; any higher-res video you take looks gorgeous and vibrant (with sound, too; eat that, Vivitar!); even VGA-quality pictures look nice, coming out small, but beautiful.  In bad light, though, some pictures may end up coming out very grainy; you'll have to watch for that as you take photos with this. The camera runs on AA batteries, rechargable or not, your choice.  I found that a nice plus, since AAs are much easier to come by than the odd-shaped batteries other cameras tend to use.  It uses "Memory Stick PRO Duo" memory cards, which is excellent if you take a lot of pictures. These benefits, however, soon became meaningless compared to the hardware problems I was facing.  First, the shutter over the lens wouldn't close without some prodding.  Then, the power button started malfunctioning, switching on and off randomly.  Then the lens itself wouldn't retract back into the camera.  It became very frustrating, and I couldn't do much to help things. Eventually, my camera became mine no more, having been stolen from me during a zoo visit some time ago.  Perhaps this was a blessing in disguise, though, for now I feel better for having escaped from the miserable hardware that made up the Sony Cybershot S600.  Save yourself the headaches I had and just get yourself a Canon. Image Quality Images in good light will look great, images in bad light will be grainy. Par for the course with a lot of cameras like this. Performance It does what it promises, with photo and video. Ease of Use Interface is relatively easy to understand, and functions as necessary. Durability Random parts of the camera just started malfunctioning without reason; doesn't seem to hold up well over time. Battery Life Can last a good number of photos and video on just two batteries; and since it takes two AAs, replacement is a breeze. Portability Small enough to fit in a pocket...that's about all it needs, really.

Great camera for a great price

I bought this camera about six months ago. I had an older Sony cybershot and it was time to upgrade to a better resolution camera. This camera is great. It is light weight, great resolution and uploads to my computer very fast. I upgraded to a higher capacity SD card so I don't have to constantly upload pictures or empty out the memory card. The pictures have excellent resolution and the camera has options for night shot, auto focus etc. The camera came with it's own software that can be used for red eye reduction, collaging etc. I would highly recommend this camera to anyone. So far I have been very happy with it and I don't see any problems with it. I have not tried to take videos with it yet. I have a seperate camcorder that I use for those occasions and never mix my devices. Sony is a leader in cameras and this is my third camera with them and consistently they have delivered a great product.

I'm the most tech-dumb person any of my friends know.  I can break or be unable to work even the most simple of  inherited this camera when I got together with my other half as mine was so past done and we couldn't afford a new one.  I have to say, it's not my favourite camera ever.  It's sluggish, it's slow, it's blurry even when you try real hard not to shake and you're pretty heavy.  It's also not great without the flash turned on. It's a big, thick camera, it's not slim or slick it feels clunky and chunky.  Good points - it holds a lot of pictures and it has a countdown on the screen so it tells you how many more pictures it can hold before it runs out. This camera has definitely served my hubby well during it's life time and I'm sure when it first came out it was the best there was, or close enough.  However, with the slim-line, featherlite, compact, smaller is better, age that we now seem to be in, this camera is just a clunky old brick and I can't wait to have it replaced!

Great camera

This Sony Cybershot  S600 camera is a great camera. This is my 2nd Sony camera and I have not been disappointed in the Sony product line. The Cybershot comes with an optical and digital zoom functionality, which allows for the user to easily focus on the shot they are wanting. Even without a  interchangeable lens, this camera can capture shots even far away with ease. The different shooting modes also allow for increased flexibility to capture the shot you want at any time. Low light, high light, or anything in between, this camera has the setting on the main dial to accomplsih the shot you are wanting. The menu options included on the Cybershot are easy to read and navigate. The digital viewfinder included on this camera is large enough to use as well. For someone who is looking to purchase a new digital point and shoot camera, this Sony Cybershot S600 is a great addition to any collection.

enjoyed it when it worked but Sony has terrible Customer service

My first digital camera was a Sony Cybershot (like this).  It was very easy to use, took nice pictures but it stopped working after 3 months.  When I called Sony, they were no help at all.  Since then, I've never gone back.

Holds a lot of pics!

I am not the biggest technological girl that there is in the world. To be honest, I'm not even close to that title. So I basically just wanted a digital camera so I could take pictures without resorting to the disposable cameras I'm used to sporting around. For me the Sony S600 Digital Camera works great. Although its loaded with lots of cool features and different options for me to take pictures in different settings, lighting, effects, various flash settings and even more, it simply allows me to take great photos in just the regular default settings. THe only complaint I have about this camera is when you take photos without the flash, the pictures tend to turn out blurry since its very sensitive to a shaky hand, but when you do take it with the flash, the lighting gets really bright and almost distorts the picture quality you were after. However this camera is very attractive and get to carry around!

I love the Sony Cybershot

5

I love the Sony Cybershot. It it the best digital camera I have ever owned, and I have owned about 5-4 . It has great optical and digital zoom, stabilizations, automatic red eye reduction...portrait, outdoor, movie, action, settings. The stabilization is a great feature. No matter how bad you are shaking, the picture comes out as steady and clear as a bell. The action feature is also great. If you are shooting someone in action, there are absolutely no blurred images... There are functions that allow you to take 3 shots, one right after the other, where if the first shot someone blinks, by the third, you've got at least one great shot. There is alos a function that allows you to shoot one picture, and it takes two, one with flash and one without, allowing you to choose the best to keep. Camcorder function only lasts about 30 minutes, but also does audio. On board memory of about 350 photos, and a memory card slot for additonal storage. I highly recommend this camera.
