Great pictures, problems with battery use.

4

I used the Sony Cybershot for several years, and it takes excellent pictures, but after a couple of years it began to use batteries very quickly. A set of batteries would only last about 2 or 3 hours at the most before running down completely. Image Quality The image quality from this camera was really great. Pictures were clear, and it was good at fast motion pictures. Also pretty good for low light, but not great. I used this camera for action shots and for taking pictures for my husband's eBay business. Performance The camera performed very well for me until the battery problems started. It has enough settings to be really versatile but was still good for a beginner to intermediate user. Ease of Use I found the camera to be very easy to use. The buttons are well-placed and intuitive, and the menus are easy to navigate. Durability I never had any durability issues. The camera felt substantial. I even dropped it once on concrete right after I bought it and it still worked find. Battery Life Here's where the problems started for me. After about 2 years of moderate use, it began to use batteries very quickly, to the point that I wasn't able to use the camera and had to replace it. Portability Portability can be an issue. This is a relatively large, heavy camera, so it might not be the best for travel.

Good investment for great pictures without the SLR hassle

It's that camera that's in between a regular point-and-shoot and an SLR camera. I think it's a good investment for those who don't know what to do with an SLR, who are looking for ease of use combined with great-quality pictures. The photos are sharp. The camera is very intuitive and has several settings for fireworks, sports, day, night, pets, children, etc. We bought it because we wanted to capture our children's moments especially while they're moving so much. But we didn't want to invest in SLRs. Nor would we know what to do with it. This product was the best one we found. The battery is rechargeable and could last a whole day, if not more. It can store hundreds of picture. We bring this camera on trips and we can zoom into faraway objects. Image Quality The pictures and colors are very sharp and the colors come out very crisp. The only drawback, if you think it's a drawback, is that the crisp colors sometimes look fake especially if they are bright colors. Battery Life Lasts about a day. Portability Heavier than your regular point-and-shoot but lighter and more manageable than an SLR.

Great Zoom camera for a reasonable price

5

I have been using this camera for a year and have been very impressed with the results. It's a little bulier than other cybershot cameras, but it's worth because of the high zoom and better quality pictures. I have to carry it in bag since I cannot put it in my pocket. I have gotten great pictures in Hawaii and while watching the games in stadiums like ATT park in San Francisco and also in Jacobs Field in Cleveland. It has lot of features which are good to have like Multi-burst and close up macro. I bought a UV protector lens so that I can get good pictures in bright light. So far I have been really very impressed by this camera. I have recommended this lot of my friends. But now Sony has another model which has 15 x optical zoom and has 8.1 mega pixels instead of 7.2 megapixels in this camera. I feel Sony has done a great job with not only small cybershot cameras but also with this bigger zoom camera.

So many features, so much fun!

I love this camera! I am not the type to just pick any type of camera. It really has to be of excellent quality for the best price. To begin with, this "Sony *Super *Steady Shot" has mega-pixels of 7.2, and you can take excellent pictures using the different type of settings. Which includes: Day, night, watercolor, landscape, zoom in or zoom out, slow or fast shots, movie record with excellent sound quality. Timer. Wonderful screen to watch your playbacks. Auto adjust for shooting with automatic settings. Auto exposure. You can shoot in very low light and it does not need flash. It also comes with a strap and lens cover attached. Of course, you can always review the pictures you took to make sure that it's to your liking and then you can download the ones you really love to your computer or lap top. It also includes the chip to store your pictures. More than 400 could be taken and stored. This camera is well worth the money because it's of excellent quality, has many different features, great for people who would like to give a wonderful gift to a person who is learning photography. I always always receive great comments on it. Even people who have paid much more for higher mega-pixels have commented on how well this camera was designed and performs.

All around great photography, Sony Cybershot impresses

We purchased the Sony Cybershot H5 in order to satisfy the Photo Bug in me and have the flexibilty to be a regular Point and Shoot before the baby crys for the picture taking mother.  Its kind of like the sport sedan with an automatic trans mission for the mother who could care less that it is a sport sedan, but has the manumatic option for the gearhead goofy dad who wants to explore his sporty sensabilities. (I'm not implying that mothers don't like manual transmissions...!)  This camera perfectly fills that middle niche.  It resembles an SLR, and even has the mounting threads to add telephoto and wide angle lense over its auto focus Carl Ziess Vario Tessar lens.  There is easy to use selection wheel that gives a breif description of each setting via the wide lLCD panel making selection a breeze on the fly for the wannabe Photographer.  For the less concerned, the auto selection is a treat.  Pick it up and shoot the picture....before the baby cries again!    The flash is also adjustable, making overpowering a subject with a white flash a thing of the past.  Editing on the fly makes picture taking with this model a joy.  As with the flash mentioned here, you can view you shot immediatly.  determining that it is too over exposed, you can dial back the power of the flash and bring the exposure to a more reasonable depth.  Certain accoutrements would be needed to bring the quality up to professional status, but for a family on the go, Great pictures are a sure fire hit with the Sony Cyber-shot H5....I do reccomend this product

Great camera for both people and outdoor shots.

I was reluctant to switch to a digital camera, mostly because I find them too complex to take advantage of their features but this Sony CyberShot H5 has proven very intuitive to use. Our family vacations photos have never come out so well. Very good zoom (though at full power it's hard to keep the shot steady.) Great battery life and memory capacity. I really like the large viewing screen and the ability to scroll through and delete unwanted shots. It has practically paid for itself on lower film developing costs since I don't have to keep shots I don't really want. I also like the ability to shoot in low light without a flash. Being able to look at my trip pics on my laptop is another huge upgrade for me. I've had this camera in extreme cold and extreme heat and humidity and it has been completely reliable. I've never lost pics from memory failure, unlike some other digital users I know.  Nothing has gone wrong in around two years of heavy usage. If you're still using 35mm and have been reluctant to change over to digital, all I can say is you owe it to yourselt to checkout Sony's lineup. I own other Sony products and have always found them well designed and very reiable. I only wish I'd made the switch to digital earlier.

Good camera!

I have this camera and I do like it.  It is easy to take pictures and load them onto my computer.  I do wonder though....my  neighbor has the same camera and hers takes much better pictures.  Could it be the operator or is something up with my camera?
