We bought this monitor because it has such a great reputation for being reliable and having a good range. Unfortunately, it really hasn't lived up to all we had hoped. We live in an average 2 bedroom condo-- about 1250 sq feet. I can be in the room next to my daughter's bedroom, and if the cat walks by the monitor it will say it's out of range. We've tried just about every combination of frequencies, and that only seems to help marginally. And, not only does it frequently say it's out of range when it's not, but it also clicks like it's getting static interference. It's loud enough to wake me up in the middle of the night sometimes. Again, we've played with where we leave it and haven't really found a perfect solution. It's incredibly annoying.
I talked to a friend of mine, and she said she bought the same monitor for her son (who is 2 1/2) and that one works perfectly. However, she bought the same one that I have for her youngest who is the same age as my daughter and she has the same problem as I do. So I think they changed something in the design recently and it just doesn't work as well as it used to.
