Sony - BRAVIA KDL-52XBR4 Television —

I spent many months evaluating different HDTV sets and ended up waiting for this model to be released.  It has capabilities beyond what are being used today so that I am comfortable that, when the broadcast systems are upgraded to support true HDTV, this set will be capable of handling what will be transmitted.

If you have seen the Sony ad with Peyton Manning saying that Sony has HDNA, the set displayed is an XBR4.

You will pay more for this set, but it will be good for at least 15 years and the picture quality will justify the extra expense.

In response to mollysspot's comment from Jan 27, 2008 at 12:31PM:

I don't because I did it myself but most HDTV buyers don't know how to do it and don't even know what having calibration done will buy them. This set, like all HDTV sets should be calibrated because the default settings are horrible for home use. The default calibration settings are chosen to make the picture look great in a retail store with high intensity lighting.

Do you need to have your TV calibrated?
