One drawback to this television is that it often produces a subpar picture for non-HD content. If that's going to be the majority of what will be played on the television, I'd recommend something else.

Bought this for my son for Christmas. Price was $ 1200.00 with a package deal on a PS3 for an additional $ 399. He loves it of course. What kid would not want his own 40" LCD in his bedroom and a PS3 for he and his friends (and dad of course).
The HDMI inputs allow easy connection with all the new digital components on the market. Sony is a quality brand and the Bravia system has a proven track record.
Only negative is the refresh rate is 60hz, which means motion is a little blurry at times. The newer TV's with 120hz are much better but cost nearly twice as much.

The picture quality of this LCD is top rated. I also have a larger plasma and I prefer to watch the 40" Sony Bravia LCD. One remote handles it all. Programs that are broadcast in HD make you feel as if you are actually in the same area as the show.
There are more expensive brands and models but I can't imagine having any better quality than this Sony so why pay more.

Absolutely great HD picture. Every channel is so bright and crisp. The clarity in HD cannot be matched by any TV ive seen in its price range, when i bought it. I have the tv almost two years and i purchased for around $1600.
Very happy with thsi product.

sony bravia 40" tv in hdtv has gotten me to watch tv again. just by chance saw it at a great price at sam's club (less than 1000) and took a chance with it. yesterday had direct tv people come out and hook up the hd part of it. no comparison to what i had been watching before. as the price comes down, i may consider getting another sony bravia because once one has watch "any show" on hd, there is no going back or get it as a great holiday gift for the family next year.
it came with the stand or hook to set the tv in place and it is very easy to assemble. one does not need an engineering...
