Sony did it again!

We have had the Sony Blue-ray DVD Player for a little under a year and so far we really enjoyed it. We haven't used barely any of the features. (And trust me their is PLENTY to choose from) But we have used the Nteflix off of their and we really loved the convenience of being able to load whatever movie that we want to watch right then and there in a only a matter of minutes. (Comes extremely helpful when there is a huge winter storm and your stuck in the house with nothing to do) I really like the fact that although it is Blue-ray that it still plays the regular DVD's. The only thing that is somewhat annoying is sometimes when your in the middle of doing something a thing pops up on the screen that kind of blocks pretty much everything that you were doing with a note to: Update. Sony player. I suppose if we just took the time to do it, we wouldn't have to worry about it but it just always seems to pop up at the wrong time. Overall, I really like it.

The Sony Blu-Ray Play has lots of features, slow to respond

We recently bought the Sony BDP-S370 Blu-Ray Player. We wanted something we could stream our Netflix and Hulu to and got so much more than we bargained for. It has tons of different videos, movies, pod-casts, music stations, ability to stream to Pandora...the list almost seems endless. However, not sure if it's our internet connection or if it's the blu-ray players response time that is so slow when watching shows or movies streamed from the internet. I've had numerous problems where it's "loading" and after a minute or two times out and you have to retry--and it does it every time it goes to an advertisement and then when it goes back to the program. Very frustrating! Otherwise, that's really the only issue I have with this player, worth our money!

Sony Blu ray Player HAS what u need!!!

4

One of the things I wanted for Christmas of course was a Blu ray player because I'm such a huge movie person. The Sony Blu ray player not only plays blu ray but up-scales regular DVD's as well. Many DVD up-scale players only play DVD's at a higher definition, but the Sony blu ray player does that AND plays Blu ray disks as well. The only con though I would have with the device is that there is no Youtube or any sort of Netflix app on it which would have make the player a HUGE hit. Other than that, the Blu Ray look fantastic on the TV and all the settings that are attributed to teh Sony Blu Ray player makes the movie experience so CUSTOMIZABLE. I love customizing the movies to a perfect audio and visual setting to my liking, the Blu Ray system makes this extremely fast and easy to the point that it takes no more than 2 minutes to get a perfect screen and a perfect sound. For anyone that's looking for a great Blu ray/ DVD player, the Sony Blu ray player is a perfect choice.

My First Blu Ray

4

This is my first blu ray player.  It came as a package deal with a Sony LED tv.  I have owned this blu ray player for about six months.  I was skeptical about if the picture would be that much better than dvd's.  I was pleasantly suprised.  The first movie I rented was Invictus.  I was amazed by the picture that the blu ray provided.  I was easily convinced that the blu rays surpassed dvd's in picture quality.  The set up of this blu ray player was easy.  It easily recognized the hdmi cable.  Another thing I really like about this player is it communicates with the Sony TV.  I can control the blu ray player through the tv with the tv remote.  This is necessary as I have the blu ray player located in a closet along with some other components.  This player is internet ready, but you have to buy a wireless adaptor or run an ethernet cable directly to the player.  I have not done this becuase I believe the content available to me is the same as the content for the Sony tv, which I do have directly wired to my router.  The only complaint I have about this player is it seems like if I stop a movie to do something and then hit play, it does not pick up where the movie stopped.  Instead it has to reload the movie and it starts from the beginning.  This may be more operator error than anything else, but it is quite annoying.

Sony Blu-Ray

We received this as a Christmas gift in 2010.  We were pretty excited about it, since blu ray was suppose to be the way to go.  I've got to say, I was quite disappointed!  There is no eject button, so you have to push the button on the machine.  Not that big of a deal.  But, you push the button and then have to wait a good 2 minutes for the thing to open!  Then, you push the button to close it, and it takes several more minutes before the thing loads.  The picture quality is also something that lacks.  I was expecting a great picture that was suppose to look like people were walking out of the screen.  Nope, nothing like that.  The picture wasn't much better than what we had on our regular DVD player.  For what I know my sister paid, I was really disappointed.  And, since it takes so long to load and start playing, I'd rather use my old player.  I thought the blu-ray experience was suppose to be so much more.

Sony BDP-S370, great unit for a great price!

Just received this new Sony BDP-S370 blu ray player for Christmas. We already have a Samsung blu ray player, but it would make this annoying high pitched noise as the blu ray would play. The picture wasn't much clearer than regular tv. So, for Christmas this year my husband purchase me a new Sony BDP-S370 blu ray player. I can tell you the minute he hooked it up, which was a breeze, there was an amazing difference from our old player to the new Sony BDP-S370. The set up part was very easy and we were watching the Avatar Blu ray within 5 minutes of removing it from the box. I have to tell you the picture was amazing! The clarity was so sharp it was as if we had pulled our couch up to the movie set and was watching live. The remote is a good size and came with a sony brand battery. Best thing of all though is that there was absolutely no loud ringing/high pitch noise. Also updating the firmware was a breeze via USB. We don't have the internet connected yet, but that is certianly an option that is available and we will be doing soon. I definitely recommend this player.

Sony - BDP-S370 Blu-ray Player

We purchased this item just before christmas to stream netflix and updgrade to Blu-ray.  Our TV is not 1080p ready so we don't get the full HD/Blu-ray experience but it is worth the upgrade for the chance to play Blu-ray disks with their higher quality picture and sound.  I love that I can also still watch DVDs on this player.  The online apps are awesome and vary from Netflix and Pandora to temporary channels such as a Michael Jackson music video tribute.  Netflix streams very well but does not have a search feature to find a particular movie title.  If you want to watch a particular movie that is not on your queue you have to add it from your computer first.  The upgraded model (BDP-S570) has built in WI-FI and is well worth the extra money so that you don't have to connect via ethernet or purchase a wireless adaptor to connect to the internet.  It does seem to take a while to initially turn on and connect to the apps but it's not terrible.

Really Great Player for both Blu-Ray and DVD

5

I received this Sony Blu-Ray player for Christmas a couple of years ago. It is the first and only Blu-Ray player I have ever owned and I have really enjoyed it. This Blu-Ray player plays both Blu-Rays and also DVDs, which is nice because I don't think all Blu-Rays players play both. I have an extensive DVD collection and it was very important that any Blu-Ray player I owned would play my DVDs as well. I have had no problems from this Blu-Ray player. It has worked very well and I enjoy it immensely. The Blu-Ray discs take a little bit of time to load, but from what I understand this isn't out of the ordinary. I was a little perplexed that one reviewer said it wasn't great for DVDs because personally I have had no problems playing my DVDs at all and the picture is just as good as the Blu-Ray discs I have played. I am not what I would consider "electronic savvy" - I don't buy things as soon as they hit the shelves; but I would consider this a really nice Blu-Ray player, especially if you are just now getting into the Blu-Ray market and buying one for the first time. If you are thinking of buying one for yourself or as a gift for someone, I would definitely consider buying this one. It is a great player and you will not be disappointed.
