Before I started to think about DSLR I had Sony DSC-H1 camera that makes really nice pictures with brilliant colors, so when I was on market for digital SLR first think that I checked was Sony. I found this a700 as a kit with 50-200mm lens. What can I say - I was never disappointed that I did this purchase. It was pricey but when you go to digital SLR there's no cheap, remember, you get what you pay for. As soon as I started to make a picture with this A700 camera we loved it! Pictures are very detailed, crisp, has brilliant colors. It has no Preview on LCD but it's ok with me. LCD screen is very nice!! Its big and shows all available options this camera has. There's no on top lcd as other competitors have but who cares, I really don't need that. Lens is OK but I'm looking to buy something more advanced to make even better pictures. Build quality is very good, can't complain about this. Overall we are very satisfied with this camera.

One year ago I bought Sony alpha 350 with a basic lents. I was satisfied with the quality of photographs but one day every one wants to try something new and to comare the result. This camera is a good one. It has a pretty comfortable shooting design; all functions in menu are easy to find and easy to switch between them. It has broad, functional feature set, including sensor-shift image stabilizer. I cannot complain on photo quality, I really like the result - it can produce good images. The ISO range is very wide, allowing you to set between ISO 100 and 6400. I took many shots at night at a high ISO - the result is better then "good". The autofocus system is well specified too. One more good feature: The Alpha 700 also boasts two cards slots, one for CompactFlash and another for Sony's Memory Stick, which can be used in a variety of Sony's electronics products. I do not regret that I upgraded my camera to Sony alpha 700. I think that many things in photography depend on the skills of a photographer :)

the A700 is a great DSL camera with interchangeable lens. Since I owned the Minolta I7000, all my lens and other equipement fit and work with the new body. I have taken this on trips and for photo shoots and it has never failed to impress me with the quality. The only feature it is lacking is video, but being more of a professional level camera, this is not required. If you want versility with options for extra equipement, such as additional lens, flashes, potential to take professional quality photos, this is a camera that will preform well for you. You can add filters, and use this as a auto focus or manual settings. The only thing I have not been able to do with this is take a double expossure, but this is possible through editing programs available. Lens that fit the Minolta Maxxum cameras will fit and work with this unit, which means you have a lot of options to work with, from Sigma to the older Minolta autofocus lens. Do noy assume you need to pay the higher price for a Sony lens.

Pictures are very important to my husband and myself. When my husband was getting ready for a yearlong deployment to Iraq, and we were expecting a baby right before he left, we decided to upgrade our (not working SLR) camera to something that would give us the best pictures and would also use our old Konica Minolta lenses. It turns out, Sony bought KM, and their camera bases fit the old lenses. The Alpha700 has been an outstanding camera, and it has really imporved our photography skills, just from a sheer practice standpoint. Our photography eyes have become better after seeing good, clear images with great color, and we have plenty of inspiration to shoot. I shot thousands of photos while my husband was in Iraq, and now that he's home, we've been traveling a lot and taking pictures of everywhere we go! I cannot recomment this camera strongly enough. It has been the best thing we ever purchased.
