Son of Rambow —
The story line in the movie is somewhat predictable. Two boys, both outsiders, become friends as they are making a movie based on Rambo: First Blood. But the innocence of the actors and the ability of the director to avoid gloppy sentimentality are quite remarkable. The story unfolds in ways that seem to tread a line between fantasy and reality, evoking that quality of childhood, where the magical and the concrete intersect. This movie completely charmed me.
