When the old unused icehouse is torn down a mummified corpse is found. Robert and the Chief of Police are attempting to determine its identity when a current corpse is found pushing the mystery of the mummy into second place, at least in the eyes of the law. During this time the editor of the local newspaper has gone to Washington to cover the Bonus March. The most powerful part of this novel is the eyewitness accounts of the horrors of the Bonus March using the fictional Jack Summers. This is the first of the Grace and Favor series. The characters are fun, the setting authentic and believeable, and the plot entertaining. These are "cozy" mysteries with fun titles which are taken from the songs of the era. If you like these, and they are very easy to like, try Jill Churchill's other mysteries.
