When the old unused icehouse is torn down a mummified corpse is found. Robert and the Chief of Police are attempting to determine its identity when a current corpse is found pushing the mystery of the mummy into second place, at least in the eyes of the law. During this time the editor of the local newspaper has gone to Washington to cover the Bonus March. The most powerful part of this novel is the eyewitness accounts of the horrors of the Bonus March using the fictional Jack Summers. Anyone reading this should be aware that the descriptions of the encampment and the horrifying end to the Bonus March are described in graphic detail. This is more than just another murder mystery due to the rich details and meticulous research into how people lived and survived. It is recommended for anyone who would like to know more about this era.
