Most HelpfulI'm not saying this is a bad food, but when you're paying $10 for a 4 lb bag, you'd expect the kibble to be coated in gold! Alright, so the ingredients are really very good, but my Pug puppy, Suki, didn't care for this kibble at all. I had to mix something in with it just to get her to eat it. I didn't...
review »Thank heaven for Solid Gold! For years, our Sheltie suffered with severe skin allergies and would lick his legs and feet continuously due to the nonstop itching. Our vet simply offered him allergy tablets and left it at that. Wanting to relieve my pet's obvious misery, I started to research allergies in dogs. I found that commercial dog food can be a common source of allergic reaction in dogs and decided to try putting my dog on a hypoallergenic, commercially prepared diet.
While going through this process, I learned that not all so-called hypoallergenic dog foods are created equal. Some contain...
review »We own a 4 pound shorkie that is very picky with her food. When we first got her she ate Royal Canin. She hardly ate. We were always worried that she didnt eat enough. The breeder recommended 3 tablespoons, 3x day. She hardly ate 1 Tablespoon. SHe also was pretty itchy most of the time. I told the breeder of the problem we were having and she suggested Solid Gold puppy food. Our Shorkie loved it!!! She now eats every bit we put in her bowl. At first she had a hard time biting it. THe peices are pretty large for such a small puppy. BUt after a few days, she got used to is. As an added benifit,...
review »Solid Gold has many great choices for you to choose from. If you want a health and fit looking companion check out Solid Gold. They stand behind their product and I also stand behind it. In lite of the food recall we as pet owners need to take a closer look at the foods we currently feed and educate ourselves on the ingredients, Solid Gold has done that to make a safe natural product that we as consumers can be comfortable with. From the small breeds to the very large you do have a choice.
The food may be high in price but the overall results are very economical. When your pet has proper nutrition...
review »Before being told about Solid Gold Dog Food by a vet tech, we were constantly taking our female American Pit Bull Terrier in for yeast infections in her ears. Turns out she was allergic to the corn in dog food. There is no corn in any of the varietes of Solid Gold dry dog foods.
We switch between Wolf King and Hund-n-Flocken with our dogs. We have had no food allergy flare-ups for 3 years and our dogs have healthy skin and coats without that "doggy" smell, seldom have gas, and have a good firm stool.
I am a firm believer in a raw food diet but my Chinese Crested has a sensitive stomach and isn't able to keep down the veggie portion of his raw food diet. So I supplement his evening meal with Solid Gold food so that he gets a well balanced diet. He loves his raw chicken wings but eats the dry kibble very well and is able to keep it down. I prefer it because it is highly recommended by his breeder and I don't have to worry about it being fried or having a bunch of filler products in it so it is easy for him to digest.
This food was recommended to me by my breeder. However, my vet advised against it.
From her own experience (the vet) she's h ad many dogs come in with stomach problems from this food. This food might be of good quality, but it does not have any preservatives in it. That might seem great at first, but dog food contains meat and meat needs to be refrigerated. Most dog owners wouldn't think of putting their dogs dry food in the frig, but this food will go rancid if left out.
My doberman/terrier loves her Solid Gold Hundchen Flocken food. She will pretty much eat anything you put in front of her, but this is the only food that has not upset her stomach, YAY! No more clean up's on Aisle 3.
