When my beloved flat iron died last year I bought a Remington at a discount department store. I used it for about a week, but it felt like it was tugging on my hair. I researched different models online, and although I knew I was going to have to spend a little more money, I didn't want to break my bank account. I decided the Solia provided the best value for my dollar. I have had it for almost a year now, and I still love it. It glides right through my hair (which is medium length, thick and wavy) and hasn't caused any damage. I love that it has multiple heat settings, and heats up so quickly. It also came with a travel sleeve so I can pack it even if it's still hot. I can really only think of a couple of 'cons'. For one, I really wish it had an automatic shut-off after an hour or so. I have come home from work a couple of times and found it 'on' - oops! The only other negative thing is that the round hinge covers have fallen off both sides. That doesn't seem to affect the operation, though.
