Soka University of America or SUA is a small, private university in Aliso Viejo, California. Less than 15 minutes from the beach and within sight of the Santa Ana Moutains, SUA has an exquisite beauty to its campus and the students. — SUA has both a four-year liberal arts undergraduate program and a two-year graduate program for a master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language. — I am currently a third-year student in the liberal arts undergraduate program. As an SUA undergrad student, I am required to study abroad one semester in another country. Next year, I'm going…

Lived on Campus, appreciative of good service, interested in cultural experiences, partial to small class size, Open-minded
SUA is a very beautiful and new campus opened in 2001. There are students from 30 countries here. What I like most about SUA is dormitory life. Through dormitory life, I made strong bonds with many friends. Also, the food served at the cafeteria is very good. What makes SUA unique is the study abroad experience in the Junior year. Every student is required to study abroad for one semester. There are also many club activities at SUA. For example, there is the caligraphy club, the hiphop dance club, the chorus club, the Hawaian dance club, the Indian dance club, the soccer club,…

public school grad, pc-user, not rich, into the social scene
Coming to Soka University of America, I have been helped by a lot of support from university. They provide me with good meals three times a day (except for weekends), good accommodation, and even friendship. All students are required to live in the dorm 24/7. Although it can get tiresome, i was able to find THE best friends in here. That is because, we have a lot of opportunities to interact with friends and professors. Some professors live on campus with students. They often open up their rooms to students and students can enjoy themselves in the…

I had planned to attend UCLA, but a friend brought me to see the campus, and I fell in love with the campus atmosphere, the unversity's ideals, and the people. I did not apply to any other school, and I am very happy that I came here. It's a very small campus of about 400 students from all over the world, and many of the people who attend passionately believe in trying to make a better tomorrow. This is a great place to come and receive an education about what it means to be a human being. — --David Smith, from Los Angeles, SUA Senior —…

I think that being in Soka University of America is a wonderful experience. In SUA you are learning from some of the best and friendliest professors, cultivating good relationships, learning to be independant and taking responsibility for your actions, and learning how to be a "Global Citizen" - A person who thinks globally and acts locally. — I would definitely recommend checking out the website and if possible, taking a tour of the campus in Aliso Viejo, to find out for yourself. —…

Lived on Campus, interested in cultural experiences, nature lover
Soka is a place you can challenge yourself. Sometimes it is very hard, but after overcoming hardships, you will smile and laugh and have party with your friends with triumph. Becasue we have a smallnumber of students, all of us are like family, We sleep in dorms, eat in the cafeteria, and study in small size class. We really support each other when we have hard time. Students are serious about both developing the foundation of individuals' life and contributing to the foundation of the school.…

a serious student, paying for school, into the social scene, academically challenged
I recently looked into Soka University as a potential school and let me tell you I was very pleased. At first glance, I was shocked of how a school could look so beautiful and soon became more and more interested into this University. I strongly suggest if your looking for a future school in higher education to look into Soka and see if it's the right school for…
