I have always been a sucker for "fizzy drinks." My parents used to joke as a kid that I could survive on soup and soda (and those still are two of my major food groups, though I love to drink water too). I like coffee, but will often get heartburn from it if I drink too much, and living in So Cal I oftren want a caffeine boost that is cold, not hot (and i hate waiting in lines!)
A lot of energy drinks, even some of the ones that are fruit flavored somewhat have that funky aftertaste that reminds me of the after taste of ginger ale that is off. Some people love that flavor (you can really taste it in Red Bull). I really dislike it. More and more now there are energy drinks with Vitamins and other herbs that don't taste that way. SoBe NoFear was the first I ever found, and it remains one of my favorites. It is deeply red colored and has a guava/berry/fruit taste without an herbally taste. Again, it is preference, and that herbally after taste some people love (and compound it by mixing Red Bull with Jaegermeister; cool if you like it, just not my thing). I personally don't think that the SoBeNoFear is too sweet, although occ I will mix it with some club soda to cut down the sweetness a bit or to expand the volume.
Overall, a good energy drink that is one of my chosen three for my get up and get to work caffeine fix.
