My dog goes absolutely crazy for these. While it is a treat and I only give them to him now and then, he knows the sound of the little pouch they come in and he goes nuts when he hears me open it. The best way to to describe these are that they are a pig in the blanket for dogs. The Beef and Cheese are his favorite flavor. They are the perfect size, not too big, but just big enough to be a savory treat for any dog. My dog will literally beg for these. He actually stands on his two feet until I give him a couple out of the pouch. They are relatively soft and therefore easy for my dog to chew. I do only give these too him now and then because they are a bit addictive and since they are meant to be a "treat," I do not want him to expect them all the time since they are not the healthiest food item for him to be eating. I have bought Snausages Beef and Cheese for several years and I am just as satisfied with their quality as my dog is, and I keep buying more and he keeps eating more. If you are looking for an inexpensive treat that your dog will love, this is the treat to get.

The actual full name of these treats is *Snausages In A Blanket* and they do kind of look like the "pigs in a blanket" appetizer that many people like to make.  I'm not all that impressed with the ingredients for these chewy treats, though.  They contain things like wheat flour, beef, soy flour, corn syrup, propylene glycol, liver, animal fat, dried cheese product, and chicken by-product meal.  Wheat and corn are known allergens, "animal" fat comes from any kind of animal, including horses, roadkill, etc, and what the heck is "dried cheese product"? By-products are another pet peeve of mine and something that I try to avoid with our pets and fosters.

As far as the puppies are concerned, *Snausages* are wonderful.  I used these treats to teach them to come up the back stairs, go through the doorway, and go into their crates for the night.  It only took about three days with these "high value treats" for them to do the bedtime ritual on their own.  They have been okay with them--no allergy or digestive issues after over a week of feeding them one each evening.

As far as I'm concerned, however, *Snausages *are a low-quality treat that I wouldn't buy again.  Yes, the puppies like them, they are easy to find, and they are cheap, but I don't feel all that comfortable with feeding them to our foster puppies.  I'll continue to give them one each night as a reward for settling into their crates, but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Yummy But Not A Very Good Quality

By

Comments about Snausages In a Blanket - Beef & Cheese:

My dog loves treats and I love to try new ones on him so when a friend brought us a bag of Snausages Beef & Cheese treats I opened it up to give him some right away.

He really liked the flavor (he's a big beef and cheese fan) and liked they they were soft and easy to chew. He has a tiny mouth since he's a Chihuahua so these did take him two or three bites to get through but that was fine. He got two at a time and was very excited.

I'm not particularly overwhelmed by the quality of the ingredients though and these are just for special occasions, such as when a friend brings them as a gift. There are quite a few preservatives and artificial colors and flavors which are not good for anyone.

They are very economical and can be found in nearly ever grocery store and big box store, as well as pet stores, so they're very easy to find.

Overall, while these are not ideal for everyday consumption as occasional treats they are fine and my dog certainly enjoys them.

Snausages

Comments about Snausages In a Blanket - Beef & Cheese:

Snausages in a blanket are cute little dog treats. They remind me of pigs in a blanket that I make with hot dogs and crescent rolls. My dog just loved these, they are a chewy treat, not crunchy. The beef and cheese flavor smelled like beef jerky, I smelled no cheese flavor at all. These were a bit more pricey than most treats but they do come in a resealable package so they stayed fresh for quite some time. We used to use these treats to give my dog her heart worm pill every month. We were able to push the medicine into the middle and she did not even know it was there. These are also great treats to use for training purposes. Teaching a dog to sit, stay, and all those other tricks is much easier when they get a tasty treat for a reward. I do not know what they taste like obviously, but my dog really liked these and always begged for more whenever we gave her one. They seemed to be fresh and did not stale easily.

Not bad!

Comments about Snausages In a Blanket - Beef & Cheese:

I have to admit that I try to seldom give my dog and cats treats, but I sometimes relent and offer one here and there for good behavior.I had a coupon for this product and decided to try it out. She just loved it, but not sure if she would just love anything I gave her. I guess the only problem I have with it was she seemed to really need to chew it and I was worried that she might choke on it, but luckily she did not. The smell was something to be desired, but I do not think most dog treats or food smell all that good or tasty. The biggest benefit to this product was the price and that there always seems to be coupons for this and many similar family products. So if you are on a tight budget and want to give your dog a little something extra than this works out great. I would not recommend it for little dogs since I think that they could choke on the pieces, but if you have medium to large breed this is great for them.

Fun treat to give

Comments about Snausages In a Blanket - Beef & Cheese:

I have 4 dogs and I have to say that this is one of the treats that they all enjoy. The size is decent, not too small or too large. I like that it's so compact which gives a few extra seconds of chewing before they are devoured. My dogs always get excited when they see me get this bag out of the pantry. I have dogs that range in size and age from 11 months old to 8 years and 50 pounds up to 145 pounds and they all seem to love this treat. My oldest and largest dog in particular does not eat every treat that we try to give her, but she has always taken this one willingly and without hesitation. The only thing I would like to see improved in these treats are the ingredients which are not the worst I have seen, but they are not necessarily high quality and/or healthy by no means. I would also love to see a bigger bag offered because I have always only seen the smaller sized bags so not sure if they sell them in larger quantities or not.

Healthy and tasty

Comments about Snausages In a Blanket - Beef & Cheese:

I regularly purchase these snacks for my dog and he really loves these snacks. The snacks are healthy as well as can be refrigerated but they last for a very less time and are quite expensive. The bets thing about the snacks is that it contains beef which my dog loves eating always and he craves for this product and it satisfies his hunger for hours. He can eat just any flavored snack and does not throw away this product but finishes and eats everything I put in his plate.

The product is easy to chew for all dogs and the package can be resealed after use which is quite beneficial for me. The product does not contain any added flavors which are harmful for pets. I buy the 12 OZ pack usually online and the product gets delivered within a week. Some of the ingredients in this product include beef, soy flour, corn syrup, chicken by-product meal and calcium sulfate which provide the necessary nutrients and are good for the health of dogs.

Dog loves them. I don't love what it does to his digestive track

By

Comments about Snausages In a Blanket - Beef & Cheese:

My Scottish terrier LOVED these Snausages In a Blanket, beef and cheese flavor. These were definitely his favorite treats of all time. I refuse to buy these treats for him anymore though. He would sometimes get diarrhea and almost always get really gross gas after eating them. I switched brands very quickly.

Snausages In a Blanket are fairly priced and can be found at larger stores like Wal-Mart and Target. I picked these up on a whim to see if my dog liked them. These treats are small enough and soft enough for small dogs with any teeth issues, like my Scottish terrier had. My dog LOVED these treats. He was usually fairly calm but when I got these treats out he went nuts. There is no doubt these taste great to dogs.

The problem with these treats is the effect they had on my dogs digestive system. I started noticing VERY nasty gas from my dog. Like, chase me out of the room, nasty. That was not normal for him. He would also get diarrhea a few times a week which was not normal for him either. I tossed these out before the bag was finished because I couldn't handle the nasty gas and I didn't want my dog suffering from diarrhea. I think the digestive issues were caused by the "cheese" flavoring in these treats.

I wouldn't recommend the Snausages In a Blanket - Beef & Cheese. The ingredients are not the best quality and your dog may be chasing you out of the room with his/her nasty gas!

Bad for your dog!

By

Comments about Snausages In a Blanket - Beef & Cheese:

I would give these less than a 1 if possible! They are bad for your dog! The ingredients are not at all healthy for your pups. They may be cheap, but let me tell you, trust me they are not worth it! I would not spend my money on these if they were the last dog treats on earth! My dogs are not picky so they ate them but 9 time out of 10 they would throw them up! I didn't even wait to finish the bag. I didn't even use half of the bag! I threw them out as soon as I realized what was happening to my poor babies. These treats are bad news. They have recently been connected to a sometimes fatal illness in dogs! According to SAAF, these and other treats have been related to many sick dogs coming into clinics all over the country. They warn to throw out this brand along with many others that have been made in CHINA! I would not put your fur babies at risk. Throw this out immediately and/or do not purchase them! Make homemade treats. That way you know exactly what your dogs are eating and you know that it is good for them.

Dog loves they chewy texture and taste.

Comments about Snausages In a Blanket - Beef & Cheese:

These are good for rewards for teaching the sit, laydown type of commands. Easy to chew and the resealable bag is nice for keeping the treats fresh for a long time. Dogs seem to like the flavor and the soft texture. Nice for tossing. The package lists a possible side effect of “excessive fun”. My dog seems to really like them. These treats are affordable and are a division of Del Monte Foods, which is a family favorite of their many can goods. The treats do not leave any stains. They are not messy at all, and there is certainly no trace of crumbs left by our household pet. My package came with a nice long shelf life date stamped on it. Beef is the second ingredient listed, which for a snack, is ok with me. I don’t like seeing the artificial colors listed. I don’t think my dog cares what color they are. It would suit me if they left the colors out and kept the flavor. They probably wouldn’t look as cool.

These are a favorite for my dog!

By

from Auburn Hills, MI

Comments about Snausages In a Blanket - Beef & Cheese:

These are a favorite for my dog. I have a very picky and pampered shih tzu who likes very few dog treats. He'll inspect, sniff, and think for a while before eating a treat ... like he's trying to decide if it's worth his time. To top it all off he also has a sensitive stomach, so many treats can make him sick. The Snausages Beef and Cheese in a Blanket get his approval though. He scarfs these things down like they're the best thing he's ever eaten ... my guess is the soft texture has something to do with it.

I only have 2 complaints. The first is the smell. While my dog seems to appreciate the smell, I do not. The second is the size. The size is probably perfect for an average or large dog, but for a toy size dog, they are just too big. We have to cut or break each of the treats in half.
