I have been into making photo/memory books for our vacations etc and have done a lot of research into the different sites and the books & prices that they offer. One such site was Snapfish.com. I think the biggest surprise for me with my Snapfish order was just how fast it was shipped to me. I ordered it one a Monday evening and I received on Wednesday afternoon (the same week). I was not expecting to receive it so quickly, so I was very pleasantly surprised. I created a classic photobook with the standard 20 pages. It was $19.99 + shipping for the Linen cover. This is definitely lower in price than other sites like Shutterfly & Kodak Easyshare or MyPublisher which was $29.99 for a 20 page book (although their covers are nicer). While price & speed are good pros, I was mainly interested in the templates they offered & the actual quality of the printing. I was surprised in their selection of templates (the placement of photos per page). They had a lot more interesting layouts then I thought that they would have. They had photos layouts that had photos that were slanted, and I liked that. I do not like places that only offer the straight up & down block photos layouts. I find them boring after awhile. So they offered different colored backgrounds, and different page layouts. The way the software works is that the pages flip look exactly like they would fip if you had the photobook in your hand. That was neat.

My biggest grip though was that the quality of the printed photo pages was just not that good. While Snapfish is cheaper, the photobook that you receive definitely shows that it was cheaper. So I felt it was a "you get what you pay for" quality. I know that the quality of our digital photos wasn't the problem. On the pages, one could see the dots in the prints. It just didn't look as professional as the same Shutterfly photo book that we made. I had read some reviews beforehand that also said the same thing in terms of the quality. But after I ordered, it was able to confirm for myself exactly what others had commented on.

I would use Snapfish for photobooks again if I was just looking to make a simple book with photos/theme that I didn't really care a whole lot about (as in it was not a really important enough event). Basically a photobook that I just would like but am not willing to pay the extra $10+ for a better quality. But if I felt an event was too important (Like a big trip or important anniversary or weddings), I would pay the extra $10+ to get better printing elsewhere. Snapfish's photobook service is for the value-conscience, where the low price is worth more than the quality.
