Ball Pythons (python regis) are great snakes, and are often referred to as good beginner snakes. After over 30 years experience with snakes, I must disagree. While they do tend to be docile, they can be difficult to keep. They are not known to be good feeders, and are not as forgiving so far as habitat...

I have had my Ball Python for several years now. He's one of the best animals I have ever had. He's very tame. He never tries to nip or strike at me, even if my hands still smell of mice after I feed him, so needless to say, his temperment is superb. He's friendly and not shy around anyone. He's curious and interested by everything, so it is captivating to watch him roam around his large tank. Very easy to care for and look after, yet the genetic alterations made available through selective breeding makes them intreguing even to the most advanced reptile owner. Many guides with how to take care... review »

Ball pythons are very easy, great first time pets as far as reptiles go. They rarely ever bite and they dont get as large as other pythons. Theyre only down fall in my opinion is they can be picky eaters. As long as one does all the research before getting a ball python and knows all their needs then they make a very simple fun pet.

the ball python is a great snake to start out with if you have never owned one. normally they aren't very head shy (meaning you can touch their head most snakes dont like that) they are easy to maintain. they are curious like most other snakes they do want out of their cages to play, explore, and find warm places. Overall they are a good beginner snake

As a general rule I prefer pythons as pets, they don't constrict as readily as boas when being held and can be very loving when treated with the respect they desrve.

Balls are the smallest of the python family and the type most people prefer, but they can be finiky eaters

there are so many positive things to say about the ball python.i have owned them pretty much my whole life and will never go another day with out one. my dad got me my first one when i was lie 8 and it was the nicest snake ever. i have never had an agressive ball python. and i have never heard of one that was mean. they are great for beginners i think and kids. i have 2 kids and they have no problems with the snakes. and the snakes dont seem to have any problems with then either. right now i have 3 of them and they are all great pets. the one i have had for almost 6 years now and its the greatest...

Hi, I would just like to say a few words about these snakes-> Ball Python. Well to start off i love these snakes. I think they are beautiful snakes but just misunderstood...I have owned a few my self. The first snake I owned was a 14 foot female Burmese Python. She was great pet. A lot of people were so scared of her. And I don't blame them I would be to. Will at first I was but then I got to know her. And she really was a gentle Giant. She was very clam all the time. But sadly had to give her to the zoo. My Ex boyfriend got her by her tail and tried to pull her out of the bushes to put her back...

The Ball python happens to be named the easiest pet to own but I do not agree with this at all! They either die very soon after purchase or become aggressive after they age slightly. You could buy one that is so many generations hand fed and doscile butin the end it doesn't help the snake's demeanor.
