Special K - Protien bars

Special K Protein Bars not only taste great, but they are a great snack because they are filling.  I am a vegetarian, so I try to get more protein in my diet and this is a tasty way to do it.  The bars come in the Chocolate Delight and Chocolate Peanut Butter varieties.  I like the Chocolate Delight the best because it is a blend of chocolate, toffee bits and crispy rice.  It taste sweet, but is low in calories and has 4 grams of protein.  This is an easy and convenient snack that won't add to your waistline.  It has a rich chocolate coating, that makes this good… read full review »

Rose's Bakery - Gluten Free Chocolate Brownie

My own food allergies are limited (there's some type of blue cheese I shouldn't eat) but I know that other people have to cope with more problematic sensitivities.  I've watched some of my friends have to pass on pastries and cake which contain gluten, so I was interested when Peapod started offering a Rose's Bakery Gluten Free Chocolate Brownie.  I wondered what it would taste like without gluten and more specifically, I just had to see what a $4.99 brownie looked like.  After all, I figured a cookie which cost nearly $5 must be really special, right?  Well, it… read full review »

So my mom bought these rice cakes to keep in her snack drawer for the grandkids.  Thank Goodness my son always has to take a snack for the road.  Even better for me is that he fell asleep I got to munch on them on the way home.  They taste sooo yummy, nice equal part of chocalate and mint.  Definately a staple in my snack drawer… read full review »

Quaker - Simple Harvest Chewy Granola Bars

I received a free sample of the Cinammon Brown Sugar (w/ apples & cranberries) flavor and was very impressed by it. I don't usually like Quaker's granola bars (Chewy), because I find them too sticky and sweet. But this bar avoided those flaws. I could clearly taste the apples and cranberries, and the cinammon complemented these fruits very well. The bar also has all natural ingredients, which is definitely a plus. — — The only complaint I have is that there is still too much sugar and calories (10g, 140 cal) for a "healthy" snack of this size. I'm picky about the amount of sugar… read full review »

Kashi - dark chocolate oatmeal cookies

I got a full-size sample of this and had high hopes for it. It looked healthier than most cookies and the flavor seemed tasty. However, upon taking my first bite I was already disappointed. It lacked flavor and wasn't very chocolately. A little dry too. One little cookie was 130 calories, which surprised me because Kashi seemed to imply with all its products that they were healthier than average fare. — — Maybe it's because I've got high standards for everyday cookies/snacks, because there's a bunch of reviewers who are saying they like it. Well, if you're picky about cookies… read full review »

The Kashi Oatmeal Dark Chocolate Cookies had a nice chocolate taste. It was the perfect size for a snack. Though I felt it was dry and a bit grainy; almost like a granola bar. It was chewy. It could have been moister. It is not dunkable. I can't say I was 100% crazy over the cookie. It wasn't bad. If the item is on sale and I have a coupon I may be inclined to purchase it. — — — —… read full review »

Autumn is rolling in and that means among other things -- Popcorn Season!  Of course, it's a free country and a person can eat popcorn all year but somehow it always seems an especially good fit for the "harvest season" and the chilly winter nights to follow.  The concept of how to make popcorn was a gift from the Native American tribes and it is said that popcorn was probably one of the dishes at the first Thanksgiving feast in New England.  — Fresh hot popcorn is a great chance to eat healthier because it doesn't really require a lot of other things to enhance its… read full review »

I was in my local Walmart Saturday and a lady was set-up giving out samples of these bars.  I tried a sample of the chocolate and liked it so I box a box and bought one of these to try.  I liked it and would try it again.  I don't know if it was me or what but with 20 minutes of eating this I had to go to the bathroom.… read full review »

Necco Wafers candies are made by the New England Confectionary Company headquartered in Revere, Massachusetts.  The company introduced them in 1912 so they have been around for a while now.  They are easy to transport and do not melt so they make great additions to packages sent by mail.  The company also makes mini sized rolls- just right for an energy picker upper. — — The standard size comes in a roll of eight color flavored wafers.  — — 1.  Chocolate- Brown — 2.  Lemon- Yellow — 3.  Lime- Green — 4. … read full review »

To begin, let me state that I am an oatmeal freak. I love the stuff and constantly find ways to incorporate it into foods that might not necessarily need that extra oatiness that I so crave. Naturally, whenever there is granola to be had, I take full advantage. The same can be said for granola bars. —  I recently acquired a tasty little oat-based morsel in Quaker's new Simple Harvest line. The flavor of choice was "cinnamon brown sugar with apples and cranberries." Tastewise, this is my thing. Those are all some of my favorite flavors. Nutritionally, I really don't have many… read full review »
