Smucker's Natural Peanut Butter 16oz —

I am a peanut butter junkie and thought I would try something a little more natural this time. I should have checked with my Dad first to see what brand of natural peanut butter he buys, but I went out on my own and bought Smucker's natural peanut butter. What a mistake.

I don't know if I just bought a bad jar or they roasted the peanuts to long. This peanut butter taste burnt.  Roasted peanut taste is one thing, but this just doesn't cut it.  I am OK with the oil separation and that is what most "natural" peanut butters are like. I like to go for walks at lunch with my peanut butter sandwiches and the oils do seep into the bread making it messy to take along.  The creamy isn't as smooth as I would like either.  To me this is a very runny peanut butter and I am not to crazy about the texture.

Wanting to eat healthier shouldn't taste burnt.

cyndiA, darlin and folks out there skippy, jiff and reeses peanutbutter and cups are pure poison for your body. they all have hydgenerated oil in them " same as eating crisco from the can with sugar in it" also known as trans fat, folks anything that has trans fat in it plugs up your arteries. its sad that the government isn t doing more to educate us on all the bad foods. please trust me, i m 49 had a major heartatack and survived and wondered whyed this happen? i took a cardiac class and my eyes opened, i thought i was eating good ? i m on a crusade to educate folks as much as possible ! go to google type in eating healthy, bad foods etc. or what ever you can think of. or go to americanheart.org please get educated. to all you cookie monsters out there, watch out, i was, any cooked or baked sugar makes your arteries sticky and all the saturated fat ,etc. sticks to the inside of your arteries and builds up clogging them! fat free gram crackers are ok. natural sugars in fruits are ok to eat as much as you want as long as if you don t have diabetees.pop is another no no for you, it has too much sugar. one more thing ,want to loose weight get a veggie tray at the super market, throw away the dip in the center put a bowl of salsa, or mrs dashes sauces, found in the super market near the steak sauces, shake the bottle well and snack on the veggies every nite , watch pounds come off you, i lost 60lbs in only 3 months. to maintain my weight i nolonger eat any sweet stuff and eat lots of chicken breast and turkey, and veggies, and fruits. i can t believe how good i feel ! good luck friends, and hope many are now gonna be on the right track to eating heart healthy.

to this poster, smart balance is a super choice, groung flaxseed is super for you it helps your body get rid of saturated fats, and the best part about flaxseed meal" ground up flaxseed" is it soaks up bad colesterol in your body, and you dump it out your but the next day. i know , my colesterol was over 300, 6 months ago,its currently at 120 and dropping. get educated folks, go to americanheart.org type in flaxseed meal in the search box, flaxseed meal is the best friend you d ever want. you only need two teaspoons a day, watch your colesterol numbers fall. put it in an old cheeseshaker and sprinkle it on everthing you eat. trust me, its a GOD sent !

I found Smucker's to have the burned peanut taste too. Other than that it is ok but nothing to really want to purchase. Smart balance used to have it right but now seems to have a new formular with flax seed and palm oil. That has changed it into junk you just can't eat. I'm still searching myself, but think maybe a few of us need to get together and make the real stuff. Salt added is ok, maybe even a touch of virgin olive oil, but anything else is no good.

I love this stuff, but it's a totally different animanl than Jif or Skippy. There are time swhen I want those, and other times when I go for the "natural" stuff. But, yes, this does have a bit of a burnt quality to it - I guess it's hit or miss.

Will have to try that. I've always been a Jiff fan.

I love "Simply Jiff", same wonderful Jiff taste and healthier.

CyndiA wrote on Apr 27, 2008 at 6:04AM

This doesn't look or sound good. I like Jiff, but it's just the regular and not the natural that I buy.

PattyTherre wrote on Apr 26, 2008 at 7:38PM

Yuck! I eat natural peanut butter and never experienced that. I am eating a different brand at the moment than usual and it's very good but super thick. Like I can't swallow it thick. lol.

I like the idea joyjoy...do you have a brand you prefer? I can't eat the Smuckers...burnt tasting ukkkkkkk.

kid-kansas wrote on Apr 26, 2008 at 1:45PM

Nope burnt peanut butter does just not sound very appetizing at all! Once in a while my wife makes homemade peanut and cashew butter, now that is yummy! ;)

joyjoy wrote on Apr 26, 2008 at 12:39PM

Try turning the jar upside down when you buy it. I found it the peanut butter will mix with the oil and make it less runny. You should do this several days before you eat it so buy a new jar in advance.
