Smithsonian magazine is intelligent without being 'stuffy', informative without being 'dry', and entertaining without 'dumbing down'. I find myself reading every article, because the presentation is consistantly interesting and hooks me within a few sentences. Without looking to be educated, I find myself learning. The articles present fresh ideas even about topics with which I am well acquainted. I continue to renew my subscription and gift subscriptions as gifts, year after year. Through discount magazine services a subscription costs about $12 a year!
In addition, signing up for a subscription makes you a member, which garners discounts at the online (or actual) stores as well as discounted fees for visiting the museums.
While the media (and written word) seems to be more two dimensional and consumed with sensationalism, Smithsonian magazine continues to shine through, never forgoes its character, and presents a well-round view of the past, present, and future of our world..
