Quick View: Smashbox products have disappointed me often but have also surprised me with their quality at times. Smashbox Photo Op Eye Brightener as disappointing to me at first until I realized it wasn't a concealer alone. It is more of a primer for concealer that lightens and brightens the eye area as well as hydrates it.

About Smashbox Photo Op Eye Brightener

The little tube has a brush applicator and the product is lightly tinted It has light reflecting particles that brighten the eye area and moisturizing ingredients to soften lines and nurture the eye area.

When I first tried Smashbox Photo Op Eye Brightener, I was totally disappointed in it. It didn't conceal my dark circles well at all although it did brighten  the area and hydrate it. It was after I read that it should be used as a concealer primer that I really understood the concept. This lightweight formula is almost like a tinted cream but it has brighteners that deflect shadows. It fills in little lines and wrinkles and preps the eye area for actual concealer. When I use Smashbox Photo Op Eye Brightener before I apply my usual concealer, my eyes look brighter and my circles look much less noticeable. My concealer stays on longer too. As a plus, I have found that Smashbox Photo Op Eye Brightener is a good eye shadow primer or an eye shadow on its own with its light tint and pretty reflective qualities.

My Viewpoint

Some people can get away with using just Smashbox Photo Op Eye Brightener as an under eye concealer but not me. I have deep inherited circles that even the best of concealers have trouble hiding. Using this product as a primer before concealer (as instructed) gives me better results than when I use concealer alone. It's a bit pricey but you need just the smallest amount under and around each eye for results. I like it. 4 stars.

I have tried this with my Dermablend and I find I actually like it better OVER the pot type of Dermablend. It makes it less cakey and gives my eye area needed hydration. Brightens me right up!

I'm like you with the dark circles. Have you tried this with your Derme stick or the one in the pot? I'm really curious about this one. Really good review.
