If it's just average, I don't want it. This is just average.

Quick View: I am a lip gloss-aholic and I also like many of Smashbox's products. they are favorites of professional make up artists and that's good enough for me. Their lip gloss is OK but a bit too sheer for me. It priced decently unlike most Smashbox products but I am not overwhelmed with the shades and how sheer it is.

About Smashbox Lip Gloss

This comes from the Smashbox Website:

Our top selling LIP GLOSS is smooth and moisturizing, never tacky or dry. A makeup artist favorite that can be worn alone for a sheer wash of color, or over your favorite lipstick for a more lacquered look. Available in three great formulas: cream, sheer and shimmer.

This gloss comes in a squared off tube and has a sponge tipped applicator. There are only a few colors to choose from and they do tell you whether the formula is sheer, cream, or shimmer. I prefer cream gloss and even that is very subtle, almost nude. The others have less pigment and more shine. I like that this isn't sticky or thick and it does glide onto my lips well. if I have a nude or light lip liner pencil filling in my lips first, the color is visible and stays visible for an hour or so. Gloss isn't made to last long, that's for sure.

I don't taste anything nor is there a particular scent to this gloss. It is flattering and pretty if you like super subtle, barely there lips colors. I prefer more vibrant lips and can get that from many glosses. Just not this one. Although I prefer more pigment to my lip glosses, if you want a decent daytime gloss that is only $14.00-$15.00 a tube, is long lasting (as far as in the tube) and has a choice of three formulas to match your preferences, Smashbox Lip Gloss certainly fits the bill. For me, it was just average. I have it, I wear it now and then, but it certainly isn't one of must have lip products.

My Viewpoint

Smashbox Lip Gloss
is subtle and flattering. It's getting harder to find and they may be discontinuing it or perhaps coming out with new shades. You can always find Smashbox products on QVC if nowhere else. For me this was ehhh. Average. 3 stars. I would recommend it to those who like subtle barely there lip color but it probably isn't much better than cheaper gloss as far as wear goes so I suggest skipping this and trying another brand.

Have you heard that they're now discovering LEAD in lipsticks? Good gosh, what next?

I am so glad that you posted this review. I noticed the Smashbox line the same day I was awestruck with Sephora's Blockbuster Collection. However, I didn't buy it because I'm so picky about makeup. Now that you shed some light on this product, I feel more comfortable knowing what to expect. Thanks and great review! Aloha! :)
