I am so addicted to trying new mascara, it's not even funny. My latest victim is Smashbox Lash DNA Mascara. At $9.00 it is more that drug store mascaras, but I thought I would splurge and try something new.
Smashbox says: "The double-helix brush lengthens and separates every lash, no matter how small, for the ultimate fanned-out effect."
Smashbox calls this a "lengthening and curling" mascara. I call this a lengthening mascara with an obnoxious sized brush. The "double-helix brush" is about twice as wide as any other mascara brush that I have ever used. The spiraling of the brush and it's huge size make it difficult to apply mascara. I found this mascara easier to apply if I twisted the wand between my fingers from the root to the end of my lashes, but it was still a pain in the butt.
I think this mascara stays on nicely without flaking and it did add length to my lashes, but I didn't notice much curling. For length, I still prefer: Maybelline Define-A-Lash and for volume, I still prefer: CoverGirl LashBlast.
The Scoop!
The brush of this mascara ruins it completely. I would not purchase it again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless you like REALLY big mascara brushes.
