After trying several foundations in store, the salesgirl finally recommended this product and it's perfect. The shade is great and it goes on very smoothly. I do find that if you don't use primer and set with powder, it definitely won't last all day. I like as short a routine in the morning as possible so that's a little disappointing, but expected I guess. When I really take the time to moisturize and prime my face before and then set with powder after, I have a really nice finish. I will say though, be careful if you drop it because the inner section that holds the foundation will crack and leak out into the outer ring and you'll lose a good bit of foundation that way. I haven't tried getting it open yet to see if I can get to the part that leaked out. It's strange that the inside would crack while the ouside stays in tact. But otherwise, it's my favorite foundation to use!

This foundation is a high quality product. I have oily skin and it is amazing!! With all other foundations that I have used, which is many, I have always had to touch up at least 3-4 times a day because my face gets so oily throughout the day. With this foundation, I do not have to touch up once! It stays put, controls the oil production, is pretty much sweat proof and does not have that sticky, gooey feeling. It does not leave streak marks either. This is an amazing product!!

I think I am going to have to break the pattern of outstanding reviews for this product. I first purchases a Smashbox foundation as part of a set. It came with a mineral powder, concealer, and foundation. The three were meant to be paired together to create a flawless look. While I ended up consistently using the powder and the concealer, I didn't really fall in love with the foundation. For me, it seemed to oily. I have dry skin, so it didn't really cause any breakouts or anything, but the oil was a bit excessive and almost stifling. It had decent coverage, but it was uncomfortable to wear. I suppose I got so used to wearing mineral makeup that the liquid just felt like too much. While I do feel like the product is good, I mean after all, Smashbox has a great reputation, it just wasn't for me. If you don't like the heaviness of liquid foundation on your face, it is likely that you won't love this foundation.

This makeup is the best I have ever used.  I have spent many years trying to find a foundation that goes on smoothly, lasts, and doesn't look too oily.  I have combination skin and this makeup still works.  I use it after using the photofinish primer and it works even better.  It provides coverage without being too caked on.  It gives you a natural and smooth look.  It is a little pricey, but it is definitely worth it in my opinion.  Also, if you buy it online through the website they offer specials and give samples which are usually pretty good.  I used to use clinique foundation, but I think this looks more natural and less shiny than that does even.  I would recommend this foundation to anyone who has had trouble finding a good foundation.  This is especially true if you have problem skin that tends to be dry in some spots and oily in others.  The foundation still goes on smoothly.  It's great!

The stylist who first helped me try this foundation said that it would make my skin look as smooth as an eggshell - and that's an accurate description of the finish of this foundation. Compared to some other foundations I've tried, it's moisturizing and makes your pores disappear, so it really does give a "high definition" effect, as promised. And the effect is very natural - I've had friends comment that my skin looked great, but they were surprised when I told them that I was wearing makeup. Because it's effective but natural-looking, this is a great everyday foundation. Even though the foundation is buildable, for those times that you want absolutely flawless skin, you'll want to go for a heavier foundation with more coverage. Also, "eggshell" doesn't necessarily mean "radiant," so if you want that luminescent effect, you'll have to mix in another foundation or use light-reflecting or bronzer powder on top. Quite expensive, as well.

For years I have been using Estee Lauder's Lucidity foundation. I was desperate for something new, since I had been using that foundation for over 10 years. I was interested in a 'flawless' complexion and decided to try the Smashbox High Definition Foundation. I love it! My husband even commented on an improvement on my skin's appearance.
