Smart People felt more like a lullabye than a movie.

Smart People had the potential to be a great, quirky movie. The solid cast was there: Ellen Page, Sarah Jessica Parker, Dennis Quaid and Thomas Haden Church. Something about the delivery was just lacking and I can't quite put my finger on it. The character build was relatively strong in my opinion. Maybe it was the slow, boring-ish script? The setting was very cold and gray which was fitting. Quaid's character, the lead, is cold and gray too so it made sense. Unfortuntely, I just felt a little depressed for the characters and generally uninterested in staying awake to make it to the end. I love Ellen Page. I love SJP. I did not love this movie, but I wanted to.
