Have you ever wondered what Superman was like as a kid? Or how he got his super powers and learned to control them? Smallville shows us just that. It shows what Clark Kent was like as a teen and the struggles he goes through to keep his powers secret while saving people and protecting the people he loves.

Smallville - The Complete Seasons 1-5 is an awesome DVD set that takes you back to day one of how Clark landed in the Kent family and became a farmer's son.

While Clark spends a good portion of his time saving the helpless and uncovering the strange occurrences that happen in his down because of the meteor rocks, Smallville also looks at how Clark handles his relationships. Because he has to be so secretive, he fights to keep Lana, but only ends up hurting her again and again. Then there's Chloe. They work well together, and while Chloe wants more out of their friendship, Clark can never give her his heart. In the later episodes her cousin enters the picture and temps him too.

Let's not forget his rivalry with Lex Luther. Lex goes from being his number one alli to his worst enemy, taking Lana from him. Lex doesn't take responsibility for his action though, since everything that goes wrong is inevitably blamed on his evil father, Lionel Luther.

If you haven't seen Smallville or have missed episodes along the way, Smallville - The Complete Seasons 1-5is the DVD set to have.

You're a great writer. Have you ever thought about writing for the Arts & Entertainment section of a newspaper?

Your title cracked me up! "No cape and sexual tension" - yeah, that about covers this series! I've gotta admit, I'm a total sucker for Smallville. It can be REALLY cheesy sometimes, but I can't help watching it. Nothing beats a superhero show and Tom Welling is just sooo pretty! Great review! And season six comes out on DVD in just a few days! Woo-hoo!

Oh, and I can't help pointing out a small typo that had me laughing out loud. First paragraph, last sentence: "...while saving people and projecting the people he loves." Hee hee. I got a mental image of Tom using the other actors as projectiles! :o)
